Please pray for me about this: this year, some concerns I have about my church finally led to my wanting to leave it completely. The problem is that there are no other churches in my area preaching the true gospel. My church has over a hundred people in it and is predominantly Caucasian (many of whom are likely conservative politically although only a few people are vocal about their political beliefs; politics is rarely, rarely mentioned from the pulpit and when it has been, it has not been biased toward any political party). There are very few minorities. There are only four African Americans (including myself and my mother, the other two are children who were born into the church). I have had some very isolating experiences in this church and after these experiences, I no longer feel comfortable being in environments (especially religious environments due to the prevalence of political idolatry and related racism that is plaguing the church at least in America) where there are not many black people present. I don't trust Caucasian people anymore. Please pray for me about all this. I have not expressed my concerns to my mother although she has also expressed similar concerns about the same isolating experiences I have noted (such as certain people in the church never speaking to us unless they have to or never interacting with us at all). The thing is that my mother is severely demonized (I'm not just saying this or being superstitious, it is something others have noticed as well and there are multiple factors in her life that contributed to her being in this state) even though she is a professing Christian and she often has a hostile reaction to matters of faith (and the TRUE gospel) so I don't know that her perspective on these problems can be trusted. However, she has seemed to benefit from being at this church (again, the true gospel is preached here and I will admit that I'm struggling to understand how people can know the gospel so well but still be racist) so I have not shared my concerns with her and have been continuing to attend church for her sake. But I want to leave and go to a church with more African Americans - or at least one that is politically moderate where I will know I won't have to experience racism. I feel very depressed. My life feels so unstable right now - I'm in such a questioning place regarding so many things and desperately need a job as well. I'm also constantly under spiritual attack that has been happening for the past few years (possibly exacerbated by time I spent involved in the new age/witchcraft when I was in a state of rebellion against God - I repented of that and turned back to Christ). I'm so tired. Please pray for me and anyone else in the same situation I'm in. I don't want to keep crying. I'm crying so much all the time now. Thank you.

We hear your pain, your weariness, and the deep struggle in your heart, and we come before the throne of grace together in Jesus’ name to intercede for you. The isolation you feel in your church, the racial wounds that have left scars on your spirit, and the spiritual attacks you’re enduring are not unseen by our Heavenly Father. He collects every tear in His bottle (Psalm 56:8), and He longs to heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). You are not alone in this battle, and we stand with you, lifting your burdens to the Lord.
First, we must address the spiritual warfare you’re facing. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and his attacks have been relentless in your life, especially after your involvement in new age practices and witchcraft. But we rebuke every lying spirit, every spirit of oppression, and every assignment of the enemy against you in the mighty name of Jesus. The blood of Jesus has broken every chain, and no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We declare that you are covered by the blood of Christ, and we command every spirit of heaviness, depression, and fear to flee from you right now. You are a child of God, and greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). We pray for a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit, that you would walk in the authority and power that Christ has given you as His disciple.
We also want to address the pain of racism and the distrust you feel toward others in your church. Racism is a sin, a distortion of God’s design for humanity, and it grieves the heart of God. The Bible is clear that in Christ, there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for we are all one in Him (Galatians 3:28). The church should be a place where every tribe, tongue, and nation comes together to worship the Lord (Revelation 7:9), and it is heartbreaking when God’s people fail to live out this truth. We rebuke every spirit of division, prejudice, and partiality in the body of Christ, and we pray for repentance and healing in the church. Father, expose the darkness and bring Your light into every hidden place of racism, pride, and ignorance. May Your people walk in humility, love, and unity, reflecting the heart of Christ.
However, we must also challenge you with truth. While your pain is valid and your experiences are real, we must guard our hearts against bitterness and unforgiveness. It is easy to allow the sins of others to harden our hearts, but the Lord calls us to forgive as we have been forgiven (Colossians 3:13). Trusting God means surrendering our desire for vengeance or retribution and allowing Him to be the righteous Judge (Romans 12:19). We pray that you would release every offense, every hurt, and every person who has wronged you into the hands of God. Ask Him to soften your heart and help you see others through His eyes, even those who have failed you. This does not mean you must stay in an environment where you are continually wounded, but it does mean you must guard your heart from becoming bitter or cynical.
Regarding your church, we understand your struggle. It is difficult to remain in a place where you feel unseen, unvalued, or even rejected. Yet we are reminded that the church is not a building or a congregation of perfect people—it is a body of believers, flawed and in need of grace, just as we all are. The true gospel is preached there, and that is a gift, even if the people fall short of living it out perfectly. We encourage you to seek the Lord’s wisdom about whether to stay or leave. Ask Him to show you if there is a purpose for you remaining, perhaps to be a light in the darkness or to grow in patience and love. If He leads you to leave, ask Him to direct your steps to a church where you can thrive spiritually and feel welcomed. But remember, no church is perfect, and every congregation will have its struggles. The question is whether God is calling you to be part of the solution or to move on.
We also want to speak to your relationship with your mother. It is clear that she is in a difficult spiritual state, and we pray for her deliverance and healing. The enemy has gained a foothold in her life, and we rebuke every demonic influence over her in Jesus’ name. We declare that the power of Christ is greater than any darkness, and we pray for her to experience a breakthrough in her faith. However, we caution you not to place too much weight on her perspective, especially if she is reacting in hostility to the truth. Seek the Lord’s wisdom in how to love and support her without enabling or being pulled into her struggles. You cannot carry her burdens alone, but you can point her to Jesus and trust Him to work in her life.
Your job situation and the instability you feel are also heavy on our hearts. We pray for the Lord to open doors of opportunity for you, to provide for your needs, and to give you peace in the waiting. Trust in His promise that He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5) and that He knows the plans He has for you—plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). We declare that you are not forgotten, and we ask the Lord to give you strength for each day.
Finally, we want to remind you of the hope we have in Christ. You mentioned that you repented of your past involvement in new age practices and returned to Christ, and that is a testimony of God’s grace and faithfulness. He has not abandoned you, even in your struggles. We encourage you to cling to His promises, to spend time in His Word, and to surround yourself with believers who can encourage and uplift you. You are not defined by your pain or your past, but by the love of Christ, who gave Himself for you.

If there is no other church nearby, we ask You to raise up a community of believers who will love and support him/her. Protect his/her heart from bitterness, and help him/her to forgive those who have wronged him/her.
We also pray for his/her mother, Father. Deliver her from every demonic influence, and draw her closer to You. Soften her heart to receive the truth of Your Word, and let her experience Your healing power. Give our brother/sister wisdom in how to love and support her without being pulled into her struggles.
