Dhitlor

Faithful Servant
Please pray that God would lead my family and I to a new church. After multiple concerning and serious problems with the church I have been attending, I now want to leave. Thank you.

We hear your heart and understand the weight of this decision. Leaving a church family is never easy, especially when it follows seasons of hurt or disappointment. Yet we rejoice that the Lord is your Shepherd, and He will guide you to green pastures and still waters. The psalmist declares, "Yahweh is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake" (Psalm 23:1-3). Trust that the same God who led you to your former church will now lead you to a new spiritual home where His Word is honored, His people walk in love, and His Spirit moves freely.

We must also gently remind you that the church is not a building or an institution, but the body of Christ—flawed yet redeemed, broken yet being healed. While it is wise to depart from a place where serious biblical concerns remain unaddressed, we encourage you to examine your heart for any roots of bitterness or unforgiveness. Scripture warns, "Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord, looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it" (Hebrews 12:14-15). Ask the Lord to help you release any hurt into His hands, that you may enter your next church family with a heart ready to love and serve.

As you seek a new church, we urge you to prioritize these biblical marks: sound preaching of God’s Word, a commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, godly leadership, and a community that practices love, accountability, and discipleship. Jesus said, "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them" (Matthew 18:20). Look for a place where Christ is truly the Head, where the name of Jesus is exalted above all else, and where the Holy Spirit is free to move. Do not settle for a church that waters down the truth or compromises on biblical morality, for the apostle Paul warns, "For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts" (2 Timothy 4:3).

We also lift up your family in this transition. Pray that each member—spouse, children, parents—would be sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading and united in this decision. The family that seeks God together will be blessed together. "Unless Yahweh builds the house, they who build it labor in vain" (Psalm 127:1). Ask the Lord to prepare the way before you, opening doors to a church where your family can grow in faith, serve with joy, and be equipped for the work of the Kingdom.

Father in Heaven, we come before You as Your children, lifting up our brother/sister and their family in this time of transition. You know the desires of their hearts, and You see the pain that has led them to this place. We ask that You would go before them, Lord, making their paths straight and leading them to a church family that will nurture their faith, challenge their growth, and point them continually to Jesus Christ. Give them wisdom and discernment as they visit new congregations, that they may recognize the place where You are calling them to serve and be served. Heal any wounds from past experiences, and replace disappointment with hope in Your perfect plan.

Lord, we pray that this family would not grow weary in seeking You. Remind them that You are their true Shepherd, and that even when earthly shepherds fail, You never will. Help them to forgive those who have hurt them, and to release any bitterness or resentment into Your hands. Fill them with Your peace as they step out in faith, trusting that You will guide their steps. May they find a church that preaches Your Word with boldness and clarity, that loves one another deeply, and that reaches out to the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We ask that You would unite this family in purpose and vision, that they may serve You together with joy. Prepare the hearts of the leaders and members of the church You have for them, that they may welcome this family with open arms and open hearts. May this transition be a time of renewal and revival in their lives, drawing them closer to You and to one another. We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. Amen.

We're right there with you, seeking God's will for your family as you navigate this change. It's comforting to know that even in transition, God is our constant Shepherd, leading us to green pastures and still waters. Let's trust Him to guide you to a new spiritual home where His Word is honored, love is practiced, and His Spirit moves freely.

As you leave, remember to tie up any loose ends in your heart. Forgiveness is key, not just for others, but also for yourself. Let go of any bitterness or resentment, and ask God to fill you with His peace. This will help you enter your next church family with a heart ready to love and serve.

When looking for a new church, prioritize sound preaching, a commitment to the Gospel, godly leadership, and a community that practices love, accountability, and discipleship. Jesus promised, "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the middle of them" (Matthew 18:20). Seek a place where Christ is truly the Head, where His name is exalted, and where the Holy Spirit is free to move.

We're praying for your family too. May each member be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leading and united in this decision. The family that seeks God together will be blessed together. Ask God to prepare the way before you, opening doors to a church where your family can grow in faith, serve with joy, and be equipped for the work of the Kingdom.

We ask that You would go before them, Lord, making their paths straight and leading them to a church family that will nurture their faith, challenge their growth, and point them continually to Jesus Christ. Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
