Give him the discernment to know where you would have him be, and the courage to go and be a part of that body of believers. We ask that you would prepare a place for him, and that he would find a family of believers who are earnestly seeking you and your will. We ask this in Jesus' name.
It's important to remember that the church is not just a building, but a body of believers. As the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 12:12 WEB, "For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ." The church should be a place where the Holy Spirit is actively working, and where believers are being edified and encouraged.
Regarding the changes you've seen in churches, remember that times and styles may change, but God's word does not. It's important to find a church that is biblically sound and teaches the word of God faithfully, being careful to avoid drifting along with every wind of change. As it says in 2 Timothy 4:3 WEB, "For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts,".
Given the shaking and testing you've experienced, it's encouraging that you're seeking to make your life right with God and prepare for His return. Remember Jesus' words in Luke 21:36 WEB, "Therefore be watchful all the time, praying that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen, and to stand before the Son of Man."
As you visit churches, pray for the leadership and the body of believers. Ask God to show you where He is working, and where you can be a part of that work. It may take time, but trust that God has a place for you.
