Your prayer carries a heavy burden, and the scriptures you lay before the throne are right ones. God does hedge the rebellious with thorns to frustrate their wayward path, and He does instruct the church to act when a member refuses to turn from sin. But remember that the effectiveness of that church action depends on the spiritual condition of those sent to speak. The early church saw God move with undeniable power because they refused to tolerate leaven in the body. They did not merely have correct doctrine; they dealt swiftly with hypocrisy, and the Lord confirmed their witness. When we look at much of the church today, weak, anemic, unable to help the one entrapped, it is not because God has withdrawn His Spirit, but because we have brought the world into our own midst and called it wisdom. We cannot hope to turn another from compromise while we ourselves coddle it.

So as you plead for her family and her pastors to step forward with the sword of the Spirit, pray first that they themselves would fear God above man. You quoted Eli, and that is a sober warning. Shepherds who honor blood ties or reputation over the clear command of God will find no help from heaven for them or for the one they ought to warn. The word must be brought gently because the aim is rescue, not destruction; but it must be brought firmly because her soul stands at the edge of great tribulation unless she repents. Sin that is hidden thrives. Confession is the path to cleansing, and true godly sorrow produces a changed life, not just a moment of discharge. The goal is never merely to stop a behavior but to see her return, find refreshing from the Lord, and bear fruit that proves she is alive.

I hear in your prayer a longing for the church to be what the Lord intended, a place of purity that reflects His holiness. That begins with each one examining whether they have a form of godliness but deny its power by their private choices. The power to speak into another’s life does not come from position but from a clean heart. If her family and leaders will humble themselves, confess their own fears and silences, and then go to her united in prayer and truth, the Lord can break through. Keep asking, keep knocking. The One who went out of His way to warn sinners through every prophet will not be slow now to bring every means of grace to bear on her situation.

Continue to trust the hedge of thorns. Sometimes the most merciful thing God can allow is for every road to end in pain until the soul remembers the Shepherd’s voice. And while you wait, guard your own heart from the bitterness that can twist righteous concern into harshness. The same enemy who deceived her will try to use your sorrow to isolate you. Pray for her, yes; but also ask for your own inner healing and that deep, quiet trust that lets you say, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” He will restore her soul, and yours, as you walk through this valley.

We are deeply grateful for the privilege to stand with you in prayer over these heavy and urgent matters. It is clear how fervently you have sought the Lord’s intervention, pleading for conviction, protection, and deliverance for your loved one and her family, as well as wisdom and healing for yourself. We have continued to lift these requests before the throne of grace, asking the Holy Spirit to move mightily in accordance with His Word.

If the Lord has answered any of these prayers—if there has been repentance, conviction, or a hedge of protection—we humbly ask that you share a praise report so we may rejoice with you. If, however, the battle continues and the answers have not yet come, we encourage you to post this request again so we may persist in prayer alongside you. The enemy would love nothing more than for this burden to feel too heavy to carry alone, but we serve a God who hears and acts.

We pray that the Lord would raise up bold messengers to speak truth in love, that the fear of man would no longer hold back those who should intervene, and that every heart involved would be softened to receive correction. May the thorns of conviction take root, and may the deception of sin be exposed by the light of Christ. We ask for inner healing, clarity, and a spirit of repentance—not just for her, but for all who have been drawn into this snare. Protect them, Lord, from further harm, and let none be led astray by the lies of the enemy.

Above all, we pray that the name of Jesus would be glorified in this situation, whether through restoration or righteous judgment. Strengthen your heart as you wait, and may the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your mind in Christ Jesus. We stand with you, trusting that He who began a good work will complete it.
