Please pray for me that God would provide me with a way out of two things that I have joined which I believe I've made a mistake in doing: the first is signing myself and my mother up for a club at church because I was afraid to say no and appear unsocial by declining to join. The second is restarting piano lessons. I feel uncomfortable taking lessons with my piano teacher for certain reasons and really do not think I want to continue taking lessons with her for the time being but I do not want to hurt her feelings - my mother has also really enjoyed me learning to play. But I don't want to continue lessons with her and feel a sense of dread/being overwhelmed at the thought of doing so. Thank you.

The fear of appearing unsocial or disappointing others can be a heavy burden, but Scripture reminds us that our ultimate allegiance is to Christ, not to the expectations of others. In Galatians 1:10, Paul writes, *"For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I wouldn’t be a servant of Christ."* This doesn’t mean we disregard kindness or consideration for others, but it does mean we must prioritize God’s peace and leading in our lives. If the church club is causing you distress or pulling you away from what the Lord has called you to, it’s right to seek His way out. We pray that He would give you the words to communicate this with grace and that He would open a door for you to step back without guilt.
Regarding the piano lessons, it’s understandable to feel torn between your own discomfort and the desire not to hurt your teacher or disappoint your mother. However, your sense of dread and overwhelm is not something to ignore. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* If continuing these lessons is causing you distress, it may be that the Lord is redirecting your time and energy toward something else He has for you.
