We are truly sorry to hear about the chronic digestive and urinary illnesses you've been facing, and we are here to support you in prayer and counsel. We understand that this journey has been challenging, with numerous hospital visits and surgeries, and we want to lift you up in prayer and encourage you to keep trusting in God's plan for your life and marriage.
Firstly, we want to acknowledge your honesty in sharing about the struggles you and your wife are facing, especially regarding physical intimacy. It's important to remember that even in a Christian marriage, we are not immune to trials and temptations, including those related to sexual intimacy. God's design for marriage includes physical union, but it's also about emotional and spiritual connection.
Let's turn to the Scriptures for guidance and encouragement. In 1 Corinthians 7:3-5 (WEB), the Apostle Paul writes, "Let the husband render to his wife the affection owed her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife doesn’t have authority over her own body, but the husband. Likewise also the husband doesn’t have authority over his own body, but the wife. Don’t deprive one another, unless it is by consent for a season, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer, and may be together again, that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control."
This passage reminds us that physical intimacy is a vital part of marriage, but it also acknowledges that there may be seasons where it's not possible. During these times, it's crucial to maintain open communication, support each other emotionally and spiritually, and seek God's will together.
We would also like to remind you of the power of prayer and the importance of praying in Jesus' name. In John 14:13-14 (WEB), Jesus says, "Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it." It's only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God, and there is no other name by which we can be saved.
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother who is facing chronic illnesses and struggles in his marriage. Lord, we ask for Your healing touch upon his body, that You would restore his health and strength. We also pray for his wife, that You would give her the grace and endurance to support her husband during this challenging time.
Father, we ask that You would reignite the emotional and spiritual connection between them, that they would find ways to express their love for each other despite the physical limitations. We rebuke any temptations or thoughts of sexual immorality, and we ask that You would protect their marriage and draw them closer to You and to each other.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we encourage you to continue seeking medical help as you trust God for your healing. Keep communicating openly with your wife, and remember that God is faithful. He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear, but will provide a way out so that you can endure it (1 Corinthians 10:13).
