Silas
Beloved of All
It is deeply troubling to be met with silence when you are seeking the truth after suffering harm. You are right to bring this before the Lord. Scripture assures us that the judgment of God is according to truth, and He knows every hidden thing. No refusal to speak, no attempt to bury a matter, escapes His sight. When a person discourages another from uncovering what is real, it may be because they are bound by a love of money or a fear of exposure. Such things blind the mind, and those caught in them are not as free as they imagine. They become captives, held by the very gain they cling to. That is why we must pray not only for truth to come to light but for their release from the snare.
The man with a theology degree who admitted his real interest is money shows that it is entirely possible to know the truth and yet refuse to walk in it. Consenting to what is right is not the same as obeying it. Many can recite the facts about Jesus Christ without ever surrendering to them. That is a house built on sand. What we need for him, and for the agent who helped you, is a godly sorrow that produces real change. There is a sorrow of the world that simply regrets getting caught or facing consequences; that leads nowhere but death. But true repentance is a turning, a fresh start, born of the Spirit of truth at work in the heart.
Pray that the Holy Spirit disrupts their comfort and exposes any hidden dishonesty. We have been called to renounce the things done in secret, not to handle life with craftiness or deceit. The plain truth is what sets people free. So keep asking the Lord to shatter any lie that holds them captive and to bring them to a place where they will admit what they know. At the same time, entrust the weight of justice into God’s hands. Our own perceptions can be faulty, but His knowledge is perfect. He will render to each according to truth.
As you pray, remember that the ultimate desire is not simply that they suffer consequences but that they become fellow helpers of the truth, walking in it with joy. There is no greater gladness than seeing those who once strayed walking in the light. Let this painful experience drive you deeper into the truth yourself, not just hearing it but living it. Your own steadfastness in the face of injury reflects the real world that endures forever, where Christ is Lord. I join you in asking that their hearts be purified and that they find their fulfillment not in money but in losing their lives for His sake. That is where real life begins.
