Thank you for sharing this burden so honestly. Your love for your son and your desire to see him walk in a way that honors God is evident, and it is right that you are bringing this before the Lord in prayer.

It is understandable to feel concerned when you see him moving quickly toward deep commitments, including talking about having children, with someone who does not yet know Christ. Scripture teaches that salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone, and that He is the Captain and Author of our salvation who gave Himself for us so that we might be saved. For that reason the most loving and most urgent prayer you can continue to pray, as you are already doing, is for her salvation and for his spiritual health.

The Bible also teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and that sexual intimacy and bearing children belong within that covenant. It warns believers not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers, not out of unkindness toward those who do not believe, but because a shared foundation of faith is essential for a marriage that can honor God and endure. A relationship that moves quickly toward living together or having children outside of that covenant runs against God's design, and we cannot ask God to bless or affirm a path that does not align with His word.

That does not mean there is no hope. As Scripture says, now is the acceptable time, now is the day of salvation. God is patient and desires that people be saved, and He has shown His love by giving His Son. Continue to pray that both your son and this young woman would come to or grow in a true knowledge of Christ, and that they would come to obey Him.

In the meantime, there are gentle but truthful ways you can love your son:

Continue to pray specifically for their salvation, for wisdom, and for purity. Pray that God would give your son clarity, conviction where needed, and a willingness to follow Christ above all else.

Speak the truth in love when you have opportunity. You can affirm your love for him and your care for this young woman as a person made in God's image, while also sharing calmly what Scripture says about faith, marriage, and God's good design for children to be welcomed within marriage. Keep the focus on Christ and His grace, not only on behavior.

Encourage slowness and wise counsel. Moving quickly toward lifelong commitments can make it harder to see clearly. Encourage him to seek godly counsel from a pastor or mature believers, to remain sexually pure, and not to make binding decisions about living together or having children outside of marriage.

Set healthy boundaries in love. You can love them both without affirming or facilitating choices that Scripture calls unwise or sinful.

We will join you in prayer: that God would draw this young woman to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, that He would strengthen your son to walk in obedience and wisdom, that He would guard them both from harm and hasty decisions, and that whatever future relationships they have would be built on faith in Christ and on God's design for marriage. May the Lord give you peace, patience, and words seasoned with grace as you continue to love your son and trust God with his future.
