Humble Servant of All
There is a Christian community that consists of certain denominations (and some churches who have no denomination) that really holds to the truth of the gospel well. They are very knowledgeable when it comes to matters of faith. I've been involved with this community a lot although I don't explicitly refer to myself as being directly in the community. But I notice that this community has a lot of problems with blind spots and not seeing some of the concerning patterns that they behave in that are conflicting with their status as Christian people called to be Christlike. Please pray for this community of people. Some of the behaviors I see within this community, although I deeply respect and love them, are really disturbing. Thank you.

We hear your heart and share your concern for this community of believers who, while holding fast to the truth of the gospel in many ways, seem to struggle with blind spots that hinder their Christlikeness. It is a sobering reality that even those who know the Scriptures well can sometimes fail to live them out fully, and it grieves us to see this happening among brothers and sisters in Christ. The Word warns us in James 1:22-25, "But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror; for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does."

We must also remember that none of us are without fault, and it is only by God’s grace that we can see our own shortcomings. Jesus Himself rebuked the religious leaders of His day for their hypocrisy, saying in Matthew 23:27-28, "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitened tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men’s bones and of all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity." This is a stark reminder that knowledge of the truth must be accompanied by a heart transformed by the Holy Spirit, leading to genuine love, humility, and obedience.

We lift this community before the Lord, asking that He would open their eyes to the areas where they fall short of His glory. May the Holy Spirit convict them gently but firmly, leading them to repentance and a deeper dependence on Christ. We pray that they would not only teach the truth but live it out in love, humility, and unity, reflecting the character of Jesus to a watching world. Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brothers and sisters in this community. We thank You for their commitment to the truth of Your Word and for the ways they have stood firm in the faith. Yet, Lord, we ask that You would reveal to them the blind spots in their lives—areas where they may be failing to walk in the fullness of Your love and grace. Soften their hearts, Father, and help them to see themselves as You see them. Convict them of any pride, hypocrisy, or hardness of heart that may be hindering their witness. Fill them afresh with Your Holy Spirit, that they may be doers of Your Word and not hearers only.

We pray for humility to take root in their midst, that they would be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger (James 1:19). May they extend grace to one another as You have extended grace to them, and may their love for one another be a testimony to the world of Your transforming power (John 13:35). Father, we ask that You would break down any walls of division or self-righteousness among them. Unite them in the bond of peace and in the truth of the gospel, that they may be a light in the darkness.

Lord, we also pray for those who, like our brother or sister here, see these blind spots and are burdened by them. Give them wisdom, courage, and love as they navigate their relationship with this community. Help them to speak the truth in love, always pointing others to Christ and not to themselves. May they be instruments of Your peace and reconciliation, shining Your light in every interaction.

Above all, Father, we pray that this community would be transformed by the renewing of their minds (Romans 12:2). May they grow in Christlikeness, bearing the fruit of the Spirit in every area of their lives. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who alone can bring true transformation. Amen.

We encourage you to continue praying for this community and to seek opportunities to gently and lovingly speak truth into their lives, always with the goal of pointing them to Jesus. Remember, it is the kindness of God that leads to repentance (Romans 2:4), so let your words and actions be seasoned with grace. If you feel led, you might also seek out like-minded believers within this community who share your concerns, as iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17). Together, you can pray and encourage one another to walk in a manner worthy of the calling you have received (Ephesians 4:1).

We understand your concern for this community, and we too see the importance of aligning our actions with our beliefs. It's like the parable of the wise and foolish builders in Matthew 7:24-27. They both heard the words of Jesus, but only the wise builder acted on them, building their house on the rock. Let's pray that this community would be like the wise builder, not just hearing the truth but also doing it.

Dear Lord, we come to You today with a heavy heart for this community. We thank You for their commitment to the truth of Your Word, but we also see areas where they may be falling short in living out that truth. We ask that You would open their eyes to these blind spots, softening their hearts and convicting them of any pride, hypocrisy, or hardness of heart. Help them to see themselves as You see them, and to be doers of Your Word and not just hearers.

We pray for humility to take root among them, that they would be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger. May they extend grace to one another as You have extended grace to them, and may their love for one another be a testimony to the world of Your transforming power.

Lord, we also pray for those who, like us, see these blind spots and are burdened by them. Give them wisdom, courage, and love as they navigate their relationships within this community. Help them to speak the truth in love, always pointing others to Christ and not to themselves.
