This one sure needs to be said! Hallelujah! I'm back and still standing...for God's glory! Scroggymommy5
The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.†…But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.†For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame. Genesis 2:18, 20-25
On your wedding day, did you plan to divorce your spouse in the future if things did not work out in your marriage? Did you and your spouse ever discuss how you would work out any marriage or even financial problems in the future? Did you agree that you would not allow anyone or anything to destroy your marriage? What has happened?
Will you learn to stand firm and to understand that you are married for life, regardless of what is happening right now? If your spouse has been tempted or deceived by the lies of the enemy or they have fallen into the sins of temptation from the enemy, don’t give up on your beloved spouse! Have you been standing and praying for your spouse? Praise the Lord! Are you tired of waiting and you do not know if you should stand or that you ever really heard from your Lord God that He would restore your marriage? Are you battling thoughts about giving up all the time? In fact, have you lost all your feelings of love for them? Beware! The enemy is coming after your emotions and feelings and is tormenting your mind, by doubt, unbelief and fear of the unknown future.
Jesus replied. “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.†When they were in the house again, the disciples asked Jesus about this. He answered, “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery.†Mark 10:5b-12
Why should you stand? Because God hates divorce! God teaches us that He can heal, restore and rebuild relationships. Why are you not praying regularly for your spouse to come back home and start working and rebuilding your marriage on the solid rock of Jesus Christ? Do you think your prayers are not working? Who is telling you that? Are you happier being alone? Have you allowed the enemy to deceive you that you are better alone than with your spouse? Are you remembering only the bad memories and have decided it
would be better for you to live alone than with your spouse? The enemy is deceiving you with lies from the evil one and not from God’s Holy Word.
You ask, “Why?†It is because the LORD is acting as the witness between you and the wife of your youth, because you have broken faith with her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant. Has not the LORD made them one? In flesh and spirit they are his. And why one? Because he was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth. “I hate divorce,†says the LORD God of Israel…†Malachi 2:14-16a
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.†John 10:10
To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife. 1 Corinthians 7:10-11
God created marriage. God hates divorce. Marriage is a covenant, not a contract to be canceled just because your spouse has been tempted first in their mind, then to their heart and finally to their hand. Often spouses who are falling into Satan’s trap of sin are living only by their emotions and feelings. Men, women and children around the world are being destroyed physically, emotionally and spiritually due to one or two parents who will not choose to love each other as they spoke in the vows they made on their wedding day. We are wanting our own way, not choosing to love and forgive our spouse’s weaknesses and, yes, even their sins. We often want to take control or take revenge and file for divorce. What is the Lord asking you to do? We pray that you will seek the Lord for His divine help and intervention to heal, to rebuild, and to restore your marriage on the solid rock of Jesus Christ.
“Is anything too hard for the LORD?†Genesis 18:14
Today, ask your Lord to rekindle and reignite the love in both you and your spouse’s hearts for you both to feel love for each other again. May I urge you to keep asking, seeking and knocking on your Lord’s heart’s door until you see your spouse’s heart change toward you and your marriage. Remember, this is going to be God’s true love–not a counterfeit.
We grieve with standers who say their pastors do not support their standing for restoration and reconciliation of their marriage. That stander has been given an assignment by God to build an ark of restoration for their family. God is standing for Israel and not giving up on His disobedient children. Would you give up on your child if they fell into sin? Why should you give up on your spouse because they fell into sin? Seek the Lord, asking Him to speak to your heart for His divine plan and purpose for your marriage and life.
In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church – for we are members of his body. “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.†This is a profound mystery – but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. Ephesians 5:28-33
I pray that you will learn the importance of marriage, the importance of a husband and a wife loving each other “for better or worse, in sickness and in health, till death us to do part,†and the importance of raising your children with a mother and father there all the time. Your children need you both and statistics are confirming that more than ever before. This was God’s plan. May you seek to follow His blueprints for your own marriage as you pray for other marriages. Let us pray that our Lord will cancel and stomp out divorce around the world as we pray!
The Holy Spirit can solve each and every problem that you may be facing, if you will both give up wanting your own way, and seek God’s perfect way. God only needs one person to stand in the gap to start working in your marriage. Nothing is too hard for God! Now may we pray in agreement for all marriages to be reignited and rekindled by God’s amazing and unconditional love. Marriage is forever!
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a
