Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We have heard your prayer for ### and for the family that is divided over physical abuse, and we join you in bringing this burden before the Lord in Jesus name.
The Lord sees ### in his loneliness and He draws near to those who are isolated and hurting. You are right to lament this pain before God, and such honest mourning before Him can itself be a kind of healing, as it turns our hearts toward His mercy and help. Please be assured that ### is not forgotten by God, and he should not have to walk through this alone. We pray that God will surround him with safe, faithful people who will listen, protect, and support him.
Scripture teaches that division does deep damage to a family and to the body of Christ, and that what is whole is lost when it is torn apart. We are warned to mark those who cause divisions and offences contrary to sound doctrine and to avoid what is destructive, for those who act in such ways serve their own desires and not the Lord Jesus Christ. Physical abuse is contrary to the love of Christ, which does no harm to its neighbor, and it must be named clearly for what it is and not excused or hidden. At the same time we are called to walk with all lowliness and meekness and long suffering, not being quick and irritable, but seeking what makes for peace with wisdom and humility.
We encourage you to help ### find safe and wise help quickly. If there is danger, seek protection and help from trusted pastors and from those who can provide care and safety. Do not carry this alone. Bring mature, godly counsel into the situation, people who will speak truth in love, protect the vulnerable, and not take sides for the sake of taking sides but seek what is right before God. Scripture urges us not to let the sun go down on our wrath, and not to let wounds harden overnight, which means seeking reconciliation where it is possible, but reconciliation must be built on truth, repentance, and safety, not on pretending harm did not happen.
We pray now for ### and for each member of this family.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we ask You to be near to ### in his loneliness. Comfort him, guard him from harm, and provide for him faithful friends and shepherds who will walk with him. Bring Your peace where there has been strife, and Your truth where there has been confusion. Expose what is evil and heal what is wounded. Give wisdom to those who counsel and lead, give humility and meekness to all, and give courage to do what is right and loving. We ask that the God of peace would bruise the works of the enemy under our feet and that Your grace would be with ### and with this family. Lead each one to repentance where needed, to safety where needed, and to restoration that honors You. In Jesus name, Amen.
