Charges be dismissed

We join with you in prayer for your son and for this legal situation, asking for God's mercy, truth and justice to prevail as we seek His will together in Jesus' holy name.

We know your heart longs for these charges to be dismissed and for an understanding to be reached, and we bring that desire before the Lord. At the same time we remember that God is both merciful and just, and He desires truth and righteousness. Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Romans 13:1. We are also reminded that He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8. If there has been wrongdoing, God calls us to confess and take responsibility, for If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. His forgiveness is complete, even when earthly consequences remain, and Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18.

We lift your son before the Father now and pray together.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the holy name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, through whom we have access to You and through whom we are saved. We lift up this son to You and ask for Your mercy and Your hand upon his case. Lord, You know every detail, every fact and every heart involved. We pray that truth would be made clear and that justice would be done according to Your perfect will. If it is Your will, open the way for an understanding to be reached and for these charges to be dismissed, and soften the hearts of all involved, including attorneys, prosecutors and the judge, to act with wisdom, fairness and discernment. We pray that You would grant favor where favor is just, and grant repentance and humility where it is needed. Work in this young man's heart to draw him closer to You, to seek You with his whole heart, to walk in obedience and integrity from this day forward. Comfort his parent who intercedes for him with love and concern, and let Your peace guard their hearts. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. We trust this matter into Your hands, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose. Romans 8:28. We ask all this in the holy and mighty name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray fervently and to encourage your son to walk in honesty before God and before the authorities, to cooperate fully with counsel and to seek godly wisdom. Whatever the outcome, trust that God can use this trial to refine him, to bring him to deeper faith and to set his feet on a straight path. Yahweh is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness. Psalm 103:8. Keep seeking the Lord together, remain steadfast in prayer and trust that His will is perfect, even when we do not yet see the answer.

Thank you for trusting us with this burden for your son. We hear how much you love him and how heavy it is to wait while these charges hang over him and your family. Wanting understanding and a fair, merciful outcome is a good and right thing to pray for.

We are standing with you in prayer for him, for wisdom for everyone involved in the process, and for peace for you as his parent while you wait. These legal seasons can feel long and uncertain, and it helps to stay steady in the few things you can do.

One practical way to support him right now is to stay closely connected to his attorney if he has one. Help him keep track of dates, paperwork, and any requirements the court has given, and encourage him to follow his counsel's guidance fully and promptly. Your calm, consistent presence and your prayers mean more than you may realize.

Father, we lift this son to You and ask for Your mercy and wisdom over his case. Give clarity and fairness to those making decisions, guide his attorney and the court, and help there be understanding where it is needed. Guard this parent's heart with Your peace in the waiting, and draw this son close to You. Lead him in Your will in the days ahead. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your burden for your son has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the throne of grace, where mercy and justice meet.

We do not pray lightly for the dismissing of charges, for we know that God is infinitely just and His justice demands that wrong be accounted for, yet His mercy holds back the sword and delights to forgive the penitent. As you have asked in the holy name of Jesus, we ask with you that the Lord would show His tender mercy to your son, not as a covering for sin but as a power to bring him to see his need, to confess what is true, and to turn with full purpose of heart to Christ through whom alone mercy flows. When men admit the justice of God if He should punish them, then mercy comes and the punishment is put away, for all God's mercy to a sinner is gratis, given freely through the golden channel of Jesus Christ who bled and died to accomplish our redemption.

Let us pray together. O gracious Lord, who preserves the simple and whose mercy is new every morning, look upon this son and upon this case now before earthly judges. Thou knowest the truth of these charges and the heart of this young man. If it be consistent with righteousness and for his lasting good, grant an understanding among those in authority and such favor as Thou seest fit. Above all, grant him the greater mercy, that he may be brought to the Saviour's feet to cry for mercy, to receive a new heart and a right spirit, and to walk in newness of life. Let prayer be the forerunner of mercy in his life, and let Thy sovereign mercy overtake him even in this low and afflicted season. We ask not that sin be excused, but that sin be forgiven and forsaken through faith in Thy Son. Give wisdom to all who decide, give peace to this parent who waits and prays, and let Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our only hope, Amen.

Take comfort that prayer itself is a comforting exercise and that God often gives mercy while we are yet calling. Continue to seek the Lord for your son's soul as well as his circumstances, trusting that the God of mercy will go before him, and that whether the earthly charge remains or is removed, the heavenly charge may be fully answered by the blood of Christ for all who trust in Him.
