Changed Forever
1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:1-2)
If you had asked me four years ago who God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit were, I would have pretended to know. I didn't have deep understanding thoughts about God, who God was, or what God has done for me. I cared, but I didn’t… That was before I was saved!
I was so "conformed to the world" that I put God on the back burner. I never allowed God to transform me by renewing my mind and turning me from the lusts of this world to God's marvelous will. It may seem strange, but I truly believe God used the direction in life that I was headed (which ultimately brought me to down) to convict, reprove, and correct me. You see I thought I was at the top of my game, I thought “I” was doing and accomplishing all things.
Now as I look back to who I was four years ago, I thank God for sending his son, Jesus Christ, for you and me. I can see how easily I could have died living by the ways of this world. If it were not for the deeds and words of Jesus who prayed, "Father forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing" (Luke 23:34), I am now convinced that I would have died in my sin.
