Cat

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
My cat almost ate a lizard today and as I was trying to stop him (because you never know if a lizard is dangerous to eat or not), I had to shake him. I was able to get the lizard out of his mouth finally. Pray that me shaking him would not harm him in any way. Thank you.

We have read your request and we join with you in prayer for your cat and for your peace of mind. We understand how alarming that moment must have been as you tried to protect him quickly, and we see your tender care for the life God has entrusted to you.

We are reminded of how God cares for His creation, even the smallest creatures, and how He also calls us to show kindness to the animals in our care. Proverbs 12:10 says A righteous man respects the life of his animal, and Matthew 10:29 reminds us Are not two sparrows sold for an assarion? Not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father's will. Psalm 36:6 also tells us You preserve man and animal, Yahweh. Your desire to keep your cat safe from harm, even from something that might have made him sick, reflects that righteous concern.

We also want to gently encourage you not to be anxious, as God invites us to bring every concern to Him. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We pray that peace over you now as you watch over your cat. Practically, we encourage you to observe him closely for the next day or two for any signs of distress such as vomiting, lethargy, loss of appetite, or unusual behavior, and to contact a veterinarian promptly if you notice anything concerning. In the future, a firm but gentle removal is often safer than shaking, and God will give you wisdom in those quick moments.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to share lovingly that it is only through Him that we have access to God and assurance that our prayers are heard. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is by trusting in Jesus, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we are reconciled to God and can come boldly before Him in prayer. We encourage you to put your trust in Him if you have not already.

We now pray together for you and your cat.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we thank You for Your care over all creation. We lift up this beloved cat to You and ask for Your protecting hand upon him. We pray that the shaking that happened in that urgent moment would cause no injury or hidden harm, and that You would keep him healthy and free from any illness from the lizard. We ask that You would give his owner wisdom and peace, calming any fear or guilt, and help them to rest in Your goodness and mercy. We pray that You would guard this little animal's life and comfort this heart that loves him so well. We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our Savior and our access to Your throne, amen.

We can hear how much you love your cat and how frightening that moment was when you had to act so quickly. It makes sense you would feel worried afterward and want to be sure he is okay. You did what you could to protect him from something that might have hurt him, and your concern now shows the same care.

It is understandable to replay what happened and wonder if the shaking could have hurt him. If that worry stays with you or if you notice any change in how he is eating, moving, breathing or behaving, we encourage you to reach out to your veterinarian promptly for reassurance. They can check him in a way we cannot, and that can bring real peace of mind alongside prayer.

We are joining you in asking the Lord to watch over him and to quiet your heart as you continue to care for him.

Father, we thank You for the way You care for all Your creation and for the love You have put in our friend's heart for this cat. We ask for Your gentle care over him and for protection from any harm. Give our friend peace, release from guilt, and wisdom in caring for him. We trust him into Your hands. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your tender care for the creature entrusted to you is a mark of that faithful stewardship of which the Scripture speaks, for nothing is our own, it is all our Master's, and even the smallest creatures are under His eye and within His keeping.

I understand the distress of the moment, when in haste to preserve your cat from harm you acted quickly to remove the lizard from his mouth. Such sudden action springs from love and from a right desire to protect what God has placed in your hands, and it is right to bring even this small anxiety before the Lord, who is the God of all peace.

Let us pray together that no harm has been done. May the Lord in His mercy preserve your cat from any injury or lingering effect from being shaken, and keep him in health and comfort. May He give you peace of mind as you watch over him, and wisdom to act with gentleness and firmness as a good steward should. If you see any sign of distress in the creature, seek timely help, and continue to commit him to the care of Him without whom not a sparrow falls to the ground.

Cast this care also upon Christ, for He invites us to bring all our burdens, great and small, to His feet, and to find there that peace which comes from trusting in Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Father in heaven, thank you for your care over all creation. We ask for your protection over this cat, that no harm would come to him from what happened today. Keep him healthy and free from any injury or sickness, and give his owner peace of mind and wisdom as she cares for him. Help her to continue to show gentle stewardship, and let her rest in your goodness and mercy. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

Your concern for your cat shows a caring heart, and it is understandable to feel a lingering sense of guilt after you had to handle him roughly to protect him. That heavy feeling that you did something wrong and need to make up for it is common. Guilt has a way of staying with us and weighing us down. It can even create a quiet desire to be punished in some way so that we can feel free from the burden and tell ourselves the debt has been paid, only to find the cycle starts again.

The good news of the gospel is that God has provided a different way to be free from guilt. Justice is getting what we deserve, mercy is not getting what we deserve, and on the cross Jesus took our sin and guilt upon Himself and paid the penalty in full. When we bring our failures and our anxious thoughts to Him honestly and ask for His forgiveness, He cleanses us completely. No technique or effort of our own can remove that inner accusation the way His forgiveness does. David wrote about this when he could not hide from his own conscience and his sin was ever before him, and he cried out for mercy and found that confession to God brings joy and relief where hiding only brings heaviness.

What you did was an act of care, not cruelty. You acted quickly to keep your cat from swallowing something that might have harmed him. A brief shake to get him to release the lizard is not the same as harming him, and your motive was to protect him. It is right to pray for him and to watch him with love, and God who sees and cares for even the smallest creatures hears that prayer.

I will pray with you that the Lord would keep your cat in good health and that no harm would come to him from this incident. If you notice any change in his eating, breathing, or behavior, it is wise to have him checked, but you can rest from the fear that you have done lasting damage by trying to save him. Bring that remaining guilt to Jesus, thank Him that He has already borne your guilt, and receive His peace. He is able to lift that burden and to give you a calm heart as you continue to care for the little life He has entrusted to you.
