We come before the Lord with hearts full of hope and faith, lifting up your husband’s desire to serve as a deputy sheriff. It is clear that his heart is set on protecting and serving his community, and we believe that when our desires align with God’s will, He delights in fulfilling them. The Bible tells us in Psalm 37:4, "Also delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." We pray that if this position is truly God’s will for your husband, the doors would open wide before him, and every obstacle would be removed.
Father, we ask that You would go before him in the hiring process. Let his application, interview, and every step of the way reflect Your favor. May those in authority see his dedication, integrity, and passion for service. We declare that no weapon formed against his success shall prosper, as Your Word promises in Isaiah 54:17, "No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that accuses you in judgment. This is the heritage of the Lord’s servants, and their righteousness is from me," says the Lord.
We also recognize that this role comes with great responsibility. Lord, equip him with wisdom, strength, and discernment to carry out his duties in a way that honors You. Let his service be a testimony to Your goodness and a light in his community. Proverbs 22:29 reminds us, "Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve kings. He won’t serve common people." We pray that his skills and character would stand out, not for his own glory, but for Yours.
If there are any areas where fear, doubt, or discouragement may be trying to creep in, we rebuke those spirits in the name of Jesus. We declare that he is more than a conqueror through Christ who strengthens him (Romans 8:37). Let his confidence be rooted in You, knowing that You have plans for him, plans for welfare, not for evil, to give him a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
We also lift up your marriage during this time of waiting and anticipation. May you both continue to seek the Lord together, trusting in His timing and provision. Let this season draw you closer to Him and to one another, as you stand in faith and unity.

O that we could learn to bring every aching desire straight to the throne of grace! This longing for your husband to wear the badge of a deputy sheriff is no small thing in your household, and it is right to spread it before the Lord as you have done. When the cupboard is bare and the heart is heavy with hope deferred, remember that Christ knows the pinch of hunger and the weariness of toil. He sat weary by the well; He had nowhere to lay His head. Go and tell Jesus all about it, He will sympathize with every pang of waiting, for He was a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
Yet let me whisper a gentle warning into your soul, not to cool your prayers but to purify them. A noble desire to serve and protect is commendable, but never forget that without the grace of God the fairest career may rust and foul. Many a young man has begun his course with bright colours flying, only to stumble into ruin because his heart was unanchored from the Rock of Ages. Do not set your ultimate hope upon a sheriff’s star, as though it could transform your lives by its own power. Only Jesus can work that transformation, and He often does it through waiting rather than through granting. Pray earnestly, but hold that badge with an open hand, saying, “Nevertheless, not my will, but Thine be done.”
And if the door should open, charge your husband, and your own soul, to cling to honesty and truth as the very breath of his lungs. If the office ever demands a whisper of compromise, if it would force the knee to bow to any other than the Most High, then let him choose disgrace and hunger rather than sin. We must live, says the world; but I do not know that. To live by faith is the only living worth the name. The man who serves his community best is the man who serves Christ first, with clean hands and a pure heart, even if it costs him everything.
Above all, settle this deep in your hearts: whether employed or not, Christ sups with His own. You find the house, the humble heart that trusts Him, and He brings the provision. Your cupboard may look bare, but He sets the table. Let your husband’s truest office be to entertain the King in his inner man, and then every outward duty, whether with a badge or without, will be done unto the Lord. The transformation you seek will be nearer than you think when both of you can feast on His faithfulness, knowing that if He feeds the ravens, He will not let you starve. Keep knocking, keep trusting, and leave the answer safely in the pierced hands that were stretched on the tree for you.
