Car repairs

Kluamen

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for me as I go through trying to get unexpected damage to my car repaired. It has a large dent in the fender, broken side view mirror, and the driver's side window is shattered. Help me to get all this fixed quickly and at a low cost, because I don't have a lot of money. The car is from ###, but it's very sentimental to me because it belonged to my late grandmother. It became mine when she could no longer drive and was transferred officially to me when she passed away over a year ago. I really want to get it fixed and to continue driving it a few more years in my grandmother's honor.

We join you in prayer as you face this unexpected burden with your car and we bring your needs before our Father together in Jesus' name. We understand how stressful it is when damage like a dented fender, a broken mirror, and a shattered window comes at a time when finances are tight, and we also understand the deep sentimental value this car holds for you as it belonged to your late grandmother and now serves as a precious reminder of her.

We honor your desire to steward what has been entrusted to you and to honor your grandmother's memory by caring for this gift. The Lord sees and cares about even these practical details of our lives and He calls us to be faithful stewards of what He has given us. We are reminded of His promise to provide for our needs as it is written My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19 and Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you Psalm 55:22. We also take comfort that He knows what we need before we ask, as Jesus said Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, What will we eat? What will we drink? or, With what will we be clothed? For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things Matthew 6:31-32.

We did notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ and we want to gently share why we pray in His name. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God and it is only by His name that we can be saved. As it is written Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. To come to God we trust in Jesus who died for our sins and rose again, believing in Him for forgiveness and eternal life. We encourage you to place your trust in Him and to bring every need to the Father in His name.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. Lord, You know the financial strain and the worry over these repairs and You know the sentimental love attached to this car. We ask for Your provision and Your favor, that You would open doors for honest mechanics, for fair and low cost estimates, and for a quick and complete repair. Grant wisdom to make good decisions and to steward resources well, and help to trust in You rather than be anxious. We ask that You would supply what is needed according to Your riches and that You would give peace that passes understanding while waiting. We pray that this car may continue to be useful for a few more years and that it would be used to honor You above all. We pray for comfort as memories of a beloved grandmother are stirred, and we thank You for her life and legacy. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to trust the Lord and acknowledge Him in this situation as it is written Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. Seek a few different quotes for the repair, ask trusted believers or family if they know reliable body shops, and bring each decision to the Lord in prayer. He is faithful to guide you and to provide for you day by day.

We hear how much this car means to you, and how heavy this surprise expense feels when money is already tight. It makes sense you would want to honor your grandmother by keeping her car on the road a few more years, and it is understandable to feel discouraged looking at that dent, mirror and shattered window all at once.

We are praying with you for wisdom and for a workable, affordable path forward.

One step that often helps in a situation like this is to get two or three written estimates from reputable local shops and ask each one to break down parts and labor separately. You can ask specifically about safe, lower cost options like a quality used mirror or window from a salvage yard, and whether the most safety related repairs, the window and mirror, could be done first if doing everything at once is too much. A trusted friend, family member or someone at church who knows cars can be a good sounding board as you compare those numbers.

We are also praying for peace as you carry your grandmother's memory. Caring for something she entrusted to you is a lovely tribute, and God sees that love.

Father, we lift this need to You. Please guide to honest help, provide for the cost in a way that does not add heavy burden, and give clarity about the best next step. Comfort this heart as they remember their grandmother and keep them safe on the road. In Jesus' name, amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

Your request concerning your car has been laid before the Lord and before His people with sincere sympathy. We understand the trial of unexpected damage, the dented fender and broken mirror and shattered window, and the added weight of small means to meet a large need. We understand also the tender sentiment attached to this vehicle, which came to you from your late grandmother and which you desire to keep and to tend in her honor. Such affection is natural and comely, and grief for those who have gone before us is not forgotten by our God.

We would exhort you as you wait upon the Lord in this matter to remember two truths which the Scriptures set before us. The first is that of faithful stewardship. Nothing is our own, it is all our Master's, and what He entrusts to us we are to keep with diligence and care, not idling nor growing careless nor leaving our hearts out of our work, but acting as those who must give account. To seek an honest workman and a fair price, to be prudent and not wasteful either of your own substance or of another's, is itself a part of godliness and good stewardship.

The second is our Saviour's own injunction, Do not be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry, fretfulness, care, anxiety and distress. Be prudent in temporal affairs, yet do not be anxious about them. As we have often observed, anxiety has never comforted any soul, nor has it ever brought any grist to the mill or any meal to the barrel. Indeed the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits us to meet that difficulty. Your heavenly Father knows your need, and He who supplied the widow's barrel so that it did not waste can supply your need according to His wisdom and goodness.

Let us pray for you.

O Lord our God, Thou knowest the need of Thy servant who brings this burden before Thee. Thou seest the brokenness of this car which has been a stewardship in his hands, and the straitness of his means. We ask Thee in Thy mercy to provide what is needed for these repairs, to direct him to honest and skillful hands, to grant favor that the work may be done well and quickly and at a low cost, if it be Thy will. Keep him from anxious care, and give him quiet trust in Thy providence. Comfort his heart in the remembrance of his grandmother, and turn his affection into thanksgiving to Thee, from whom every good gift comes, and in whose hands are all our days. Help him to use what Thou hast entrusted to him for Thy honor, remembering that Thou wilt come, and that faithful stewardship shall have its reward. All this we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who careth for us. Amen.

May the Lord keep you in peace as you commit this matter to Him, and may He make you to know His sufficient grace in this as in all things.
