Silas
Beloved of All
The heaviness you describe, the inability to rest and the constant stress and anxiety about the future and about this dental procedure, is understood and I am praying for you.
Fear often grows when we lose the sense of God's nearness. Scripture shows that the cure for fear is the consciousness that He is with you. When you remember who He is, His greatness and His power and His love for you as His child, fear loses its hold. The Bible teaches that perfect love casts out fear, because fear brings torment, but to know you are loved and held by God through Jesus Christ brings peace about the present and about what is to come. Faith and fear cannot rule the heart at the same time. Where faith and trust in the Lord are present, fear must leave.
That is why the wisest place to begin is not with trying harder to manage anxiety, but with a reverent awe of God. This is not a frightened phobia, but a deep respect and wonder at who He is, loving what He loves and turning from what He hates. That reverence is the beginning and the sum of true wisdom, and when the Lord has that place in your heart He becomes your confidence. He Himself says that He is the one who comforts you, so why should you be afraid of people or of circumstances that are passing. The fear of people brings a trap, but whoever puts trust in the Lord is safe.
God also holds the future. He has spoken of a future day of restoration and He knows every detail of what is ahead for you. Nothing about tomorrow or about this procedure is hidden from Him. He watches over you completely, and whatever He allows He allows in love.
I pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus I bring this dear one to You who is weary and anxious and unable to find rest. Calm every fear and quiet the heart with the assurance of Your presence. Help faith to rise and fear to go. Give deep peace and the ability to rest in Your love. I ask for Your hand upon this dental procedure very soon, for skill and care for those who perform it, and for a good outcome with results that come back well and bring relief. Let Your comfort be felt in a real way and let Your perfect love drive out all anxiety. Amen.
