We are so touched by your sweet and simple faith and we rejoice with you that our Father heard your prayer about the candle and provided one for you in the free box. What a beautiful reminder that He cares about even the small desires of our hearts and delights to give good gifts to His children.
We love that you noticed His hand in providing that candle and that you came back to thank Him and to ask again with such trust. Jesus teaches us in Matthew 7:11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him. And we are reminded in Philippians 4:19 My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Also James 1:17 tells us Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow.
We join you now in prayer together in Jesus name.
Father God, we thank You together for Your loving kindness and for how You provided a candle when Your child asked, and we thank You that You hear every prayer, even the smallest ones. We ask in Jesus name that if it is Your will You would provide another candle for Your child in Your perfect timing and way, whether through a free box, a kind person, or another provision. Above all we thank You for Jesus who said in John 8:12 I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life. Fill this dear heart with Your light and peace and joy as they wait on You, and help them to continue to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all these things will be given as well as promised in Matthew 6:33. Let Your presence be the true light in their home and life, even more than any candle. We pray this in the precious name of Jesus, our light and our provider, amen.
We encourage you to keep bringing every desire to Him with thanksgiving, great and small, and to keep watching with expectation for how He will answer. He who opened His hand to satisfy the desire of every living thing in Psalm 145:16 is still attentive to you today.

Your little prayer for a candle has a sweetness in it which many longer prayers lack, for it shows a grateful heart that traces a small mercy to the hand of God. You told the Lord you could not afford a candle and would love one, and He heard you and put one in the free box for you. This is just as it should be, for every Christian should be ambitious to have the hand of God connected with everything that he has, so that when he looks upon what is in his house he may see God's providence in giving it to him, and view what is upon his table as the daily gift of divine charity.
We rejoice with you that you did not let this mercy come in at the back door unnoticed, but you received it at the front door with grateful acknowledgments. So many receive many blessings without making a note of them, or even seeming to know that they have them, and remain dumb debtors, daily owing more. You have done well to give thanks, for the Psalm says, He daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Preserved life itself, the heavings of the lungs and the pulsings of the blood, are of His continued goodness, and how much more every little gift that cheers our dwelling.

O Lord our God, we bless Thee for Thy daily loads of benefits, and for this small token of Thy care, a candle given in answer to a simple prayer.
