Cancel divorce, restore marriage

Please pray ###’s heart is softened and turned toward me and God. Remove all ungodly counsel, soul ties, mistresses, ego, pride, stubbornness from my spouse. Cancel all divorce proceedings immediately. Heal our hearts. Help my husband to make me a priority and place all others behind me. Help us to forgive each other. Restore and reconcile our union quickly. Help us to become stronger and increase our love for each other.

We join you in lifting up your marriage before the Lord, for we know how deeply painful and heavy this season must be for you. We stand with you in believing that marriage is a holy covenant created by God between a man and a woman for life, and that He is able to heal and restore what seems broken. As it is written, So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate Matt 19:6 and also For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, the God of Israel Mal 2:16. It is clear that God's heart is for reconciliation and restoration, and we pray together with you for that very thing.

We must also speak plainly about what you have shared, because we love you and want to see you walk in truth. You mentioned mistresses and ungodly soul ties. The Word of God is clear that any sexual relationship outside of marriage is adultery and fornication, and it grieves the heart of God and wounds the marriage covenant. Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Heb 13:4. We rebuke that sin and pray that your husband will turn from every adulterous relationship and be convicted to repent and be cleansed. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. We also rebuke the pride, ego, stubbornness and ungodly counsel that has come against your union, for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble James 4:6 and Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall Prov 16:18. We pray that every voice that is not from God will be silenced and removed, and that any ungodly soul ties formed through sin will be broken in the name of Jesus.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you both to place your faith fully in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Rom 10:9. It is through His blood that forgiveness and healing flow into a marriage.

We pray together now for you both.

Father, in the name of Jesus we come before Your throne of grace and lift up this marriage to You. We ask that You soften this husband's heart and turn it toward You and toward his wife. Give him a new heart and put a new spirit within him as You have promised, I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you Ezek 36:26. We know that The king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires Prov 21:1, so we ask You to turn his heart away from pride, stubbornness, selfishness and sin and back to covenant love. Lord, we ask You to cancel the plans for divorce, to intervene in every legal proceeding and to make a way for reconciliation where it seems impossible. Heal both of their wounded hearts, bind up what has been broken and pour out Your grace to forgive one another just as You have forgiven us. Help this husband to love his wife as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her Eph 5:25 and to live with his wife with understanding and honor 1 Pet 3:7, making her a priority after You and placing all others behind her in godly order. Teach them both to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Eph 4:32. Restore and reconcile this union quickly for Your glory, make it stronger than before and cause their love for each other to increase and abound. Let them build their home on Your Word with love that is patient and kind, that bears all things and endures all things 1 Cor 13:4-7. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and in the Word, to seek godly counsel from a faithful pastor or mature believers, and to continue to walk in forgiveness and purity while trusting God to work. We pray that you will guard your own heart, remain faithful to your covenant, and allow God to be your strength and comfort in the waiting. We believe God is able to do far more than we can ask or think, and we continue to stand with you for the healing, forgiveness and restored love you have asked for, according to His perfect will.

We hear how much you want your marriage to be spared and restored, and how heavy it feels to watch divorce papers move forward while your heart still hopes. Thank you for trusting us with something so personal.

Wanting to forgive and to be forgiven is at the heart of what you described, and we have found that forgiveness often comes in two layers. There is the quiet decision to release the debt and not seek payback, and then there is the slower work of the heart where resentment and fear are gradually replaced by compassion and peace. Both matter, and both usually take time, prayer and support. It is understandable to want everything healed quickly, and it is also normal for healing to be a longer walk.

One steady step that often helps right now is to have one trusted pastor or counselor walking with you consistently, someone who knows you both if possible, who can help you sort wise next actions from pressured ones, keep communication respectful and calm, and care for your own heart while you pray for your husband's. If you do have contact, keeping it brief, kind and free of repeated pleading tends to leave more room for God to work.

Father, we lift this wife and her husband to You in Jesus name. Soften both hearts toward You and toward each other, heal what is wounded, clear away what does not belong in this marriage, and give them wisdom to forgive as You have forgiven. Lead them step by step according to Your will and guard them in Your grace. Amen.

Your prayer for the restoration of your marriage has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the throne of grace with earnestness and compassion.

We pray that the Lord in His mercy would soften and turn your husband's heart toward Himself first and then toward you, that He would draw him to repentance and to faith in Jesus Christ, through whom alone there is salvation and forgiveness. Scripture declares, There is forgiveness with Thee, and that forgiveness is divine, surprising and complete. I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. Whatever sin has entered this union, however deep the wounds of pride, ego, stubbornness and unfaithfulness, there is forgiveness with God through the blood of Christ for every sinner who turns to Him with a penitent heart and trusts in Him.

We pray that the Lord would remove all ungodly counsel and sever every ungodly soul tie and adulterous relationship. We do not ask God to bless what He calls sin, but we ask Him to bring conviction, to lead to forsaking of sin and to establish purity and faithfulness within the covenant of marriage as He ordained it, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman. May the Lord cleanse hearts, heal what has been broken, and set both of you upon the path of holiness and truth.

We ask the Lord to stay and cancel the divorce proceedings if it be His gracious will, to quiet strife and to make a way for reconciliation. We pray that He would heal your hearts, teach you both to forgive one another even as Christ forgave you, for His forgiveness is not only first but continuous and eternal, and He calls His people to a joint work of mutual forgiveness. May He give you grace to forgive freely, to release bitterness, and to build again in love.

We pray that your husband would be convicted to make his vows a priority and to place you in the honor that marriage requires, forsaking all others, and that you both would grow stronger together, increasing in love, humility and tenderness toward one another. May the Lord replace pride with meekness, stubbornness with a willing spirit, and confusion with godly counsel and the wisdom of His Word.

Take comfort that there is forgiveness now, at this moment, for all who come to Christ. Seek Him together in prayer, in the Word, and in faithful fellowship with His people. Let forgiveness be sought first from God, and then extended to one another, trusting that He who has promised to forgive will also give grace to restore and to keep.

We will continue to pray that God will be glorified in your home, that He will work healing and reconciliation according to His perfect will, and that your union would be strengthened in Christ for His glory.
