We hear your heart cry and we stand with you in prayer for your marriage, for we know how deeply God values the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman.
We agree with you that divorce is not God's desire and we pray with you that these proceedings would be stopped. Scripture is clear about God's heart for marriage, What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate, Matthew 19:6 and For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, the God of Israel, Malachi 2:16. Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers, Hebrews 13:4. We must lovingly and firmly address that your husband's involvement with another woman is adultery, it is sin before God and it violates the marriage covenant. God calls all involved to repentance, to flee sexual immorality, 1 Corinthians 6:18, and to turn from this path. We rebuke that adulterous relationship and the ungodly counsel and negative talk that has surrounded your marriage, for we know that bad company corrupts good morals, 1 Corinthians 15:33, and we pray that every voice that encourages division and sin would be silenced and removed from influence.
We also notice your request appeals to the Lord but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to gently remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your full trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that God raised Him from the dead, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Romans 10:9.
We pray together for restoration with God at the center.
Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift this marriage up to You. Lord, we ask that You intervene and cancel the plans for divorce according to Your perfect will. Soften this husband's heart toward You and toward his wife, remove his heart of stone and give him a heart of flesh that is tender to Your Holy Spirit, Ezekiel 36:26. Bring deep godly conviction upon him and upon the other woman, so that sin brings no pleasure or comfort but rather a clear knowledge that this relationship is wrong and must end. We pray that You separate that ungodly union completely and that You close every door that leads back to it. Remove every ungodly counselor and every negative word spoken against this marriage. Surround this wife with strength, peace, and wisdom, and surround this husband with godly men who will speak truth and call him to repentance, love, and faithfulness. Help this couple to love each other as You have loved us, to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you, Ephesians 4:32. Teach this husband to love his wife even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it, Ephesians 5:25. Restore what the enemy has tried to destroy, heal the wounds, rebuild trust through repentance and forgiveness, and put Yourself at the very center of this marriage. We pray for complete reconciliation and renewal, that this marriage would be a testimony of Your redeeming power. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to stand in faith, to pray without ceasing, to remain faithful in your own walk with the Lord, and to seek wise, biblical counsel from a pastor or mature believers who uphold the sanctity of marriage. Guard your own heart, walk in forgiveness while not condoning sin, and trust that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask. The effective, earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results, James 5:16. We continue to stand with you for healing, repentance, and the quick restoration of your marriage in Christ.
