Can you idolize a person?

"If someone preaches another Jesus, you readily accept it." We think of idolatry as someone worshipping a statue. But can you commit idolatry by worshipping a person? I would think so. We see people in cults who gush over everything their leader says. Even the Germans with Hitler. People putting statues of Buddha in their lawns because they think it will help their gardens thrive. How about Elvis Presley? The Catholics praying to Mary.

In my own life, I've seen what I think would be described as idolatry. There was this lady who was into the occult, would hold seances, would go to places that did those things, copy off of other famous devil worshippers. And how I thought of idolatry is, there was this clique who followed her like sheep and quoted every word she said like it was the Gospel. She has a cousin who to this day quotes everything she says like it's the Gospel. I hate to see people worship themselves like that.

Myself, I grew up around that, because my mother is fascinated with the occult, but thank God I was one of the chosen ones and leaned more towards Biblical things and see that stuff for what it is. But the question being, does idolatry always necessarily mean worshipping a statue? Can you idolize a person if you let them mesmerize you and lead you astray? I think so. You?

My only idol in my life is Jesus and my only desire on earth is to see Him face to face and bow down before Him and worship Him, praise Him, and adore His holy name. He has been so wonderful and good to those who love Him with all their heart, mind and soul. He loves you and cares for you. If you choose to idolize anyone in this world then you will be so disappointed and sad to have trusted in a man or woman of the world. Remember what God's word says. Put not your trust in princes nor in the son of men, in whom there is no help. Psalm 146.3,5

Without criticizing other people's choices, I choose to proclaim the name of Jesus, God the father and the Holy Spirit. There is no other God. He is almighty, old of days, all glory be unto him.

Our credibility is of great concern to all of us. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved... says the Lord. Now, if any idol you may have or idolize someone you are in sin and heading straight to hells burning fire. Moses coming down the mountain of God, saw an idol, a bull made of gold that everyone was worshiping. He destroyed the idol and told those idol worshipers. Worship the Lord in spirit and in truth. No idol worshiper shall enter heaven.
