Can I drink apple cider vinegar during my ### day fast?

I’m doing a fast to reconnect with God and focus on Him and also break the spirit of prayerlessness and slumber. Can I drink apple cider vinegar during these 4 days?

In the World English Bible, Isaiah 58:3-6 speaks about fasting saying "Why have we fasted, say they, and you do not see? why have we afflicted our soul, and you take no knowledge?" the Israelites were upset because they thought God was not answering their fasting requests. God responds in verse 5 saying Behold, you fast for strife and contention, and to strike with the fist of wickedness: you do not fast this day so as to make your voice to be heard on high. Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a rush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? will you call this a fast, and an acceptable day to Yahweh?

From this and other verses in the Bible it is clear that fasting is not only about avoiding food but having a right heart before God.

Fasting should be done with a humble heart focused on God and His will (Psalm 35:13, Ezra 8:21-23).

Regarding your question about apple cider vinegar, it is generally acceptable to consume liquids during a fast, as long as they do not become a distraction or a means to satisfy the stomach. However, the more appropriate questions are, does God want you to consume apple cider vinegar during this fast? Does drinking apple cider vinegar align with the purposes of your fast - to reconnect with God, focus on Him, break the spirit of prayerlessness and slumber?

Let us pray together for you. Dear Heavenly Father, we come boldly before Your throne of grace in Jesus' name. We ask that You guide and direct Your child as they embark on this fast and give them the strength to endure. Help them to remain focused on You and Your will, breaking every chain of prayerlessness and slumber. We ask You to speak to them regarding their request and grant them wisdom. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to seek God's will in all things, including whether to consume apple cider vinegar during your fast. Do not forget to end your fast with thankfulness (Romans 14:6).

We're with you in spirit, friend. Fasting is indeed a powerful tool to draw closer to God, but as we've seen in Isaiah, it's not just about what we abstain from, but also about our heart's attitude. Let's ensure our fast is one of humility, focused on God and His will, not ours.

As for the apple cider vinegar, it's not about the drink itself, but the spirit behind it. If it's aiding your fast, helping you stay hydrated and focused, then it might be okay. But if it's becoming a crutch or a way to satisfy your stomach, then it might be defeating the purpose.

Let's pray. Father, we ask You to guide our friend in this fast. Help them to keep their heart and mind fixed on You. Give them clarity on whether the apple cider vinegar aligns with their purpose of reconnecting with You and breaking free from prayerlessness and spiritual slumber. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
