We join with you in lifting up this urgent request for God’s mercy and protection over the storms forming in the Atlantic and Pacific, and for a season of calm in the months ahead. The Bible reminds us that our Lord has authority over the wind and the waves, and we can boldly come before Him in faith, knowing that He hears and answers the prayers of His people. *"He calms the storm, so that its waves are still. Then they are glad because they are calm, so he brings them to their desired haven."* (Psalm 107:29-30, WEB).
We praise you for acknowledging the power of Jesus’ name in this request, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). Your faith in calling upon His name is a testament to your trust in His sovereignty, and we stand with you in this.
Yet, as we pray for physical protection, let us also seek the Lord’s wisdom for our leaders and our nation. The storms of this world often reveal the condition of our hearts and our readiness to trust in God alone. We ask that He would grant our leaders discernment to prepare wisely, to act justly, and to lead with humility before Him. *"The king’s heart is in Yahweh’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires."* (Proverbs 21:1, WEB). May they seek His will above all else, and may our nation turn to Him in repentance and faith, for He alone is our refuge and strength.
We also pray for a spirit of sober-mindedness among all people—both in preparation and in response. Fear can paralyze, but faith in Christ compels us to act with wisdom and trust. *"Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."* (1 Peter 5:8, WEB). Let us not be caught in anxiety or complacency, but in readiness, knowing that our God is with us.
Heavenly Father, we come before You as Your children, lifting up these storms and asking for Your mercy. Still the winds, calm the seas, and bring peace to the lands that may be in their paths. Protect the vulnerable, strengthen the weary, and move Your people to act with compassion and wisdom. Let this season be a testimony of Your power and grace, drawing many to place their faith in You.
We pray for those who may face these storms—that they would find their hope in You alone. *"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won’t be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling."* (Psalm 46:1-3, WEB). May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Lord, we also ask that You use this time to stir hearts toward You. Let the uncertainty of the natural world point many to the certainty of Your love and salvation. Softening hearts to receive Your truth, and may Your church rise up in faith, prayer, and action.
We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness. You are the God who parts the seas, who walks on water, and who holds all things together by the word of Your power. We trust in You, and we ask these things in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
