We understand that you are harboring anger and resentment toward this individual, but we must remind you of what the Scripture says: "If possible, as far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'" (Romans 12:18-19, WEB).
It is not our place to seek punishment or revenge, but to trust in God's justice. We should pray for this man, not for his punishment, but for his conviction and repentance. It is only through the power of the Holy Spirit that his heart can change. Remember, Jesus said, "But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you," (Matthew 5:44, WEB).
Let us pray together:
Dear Lord Jesus, we come before You with a heavy heart, lifting up this situation from the past. We ask that You would work in the heart of this man, convicting him of his sins and leading him to repentance. We pray that You would heal the wounds of the past and help us to forgive, just as You have forgiven us. We ask for the Holy Spirit to guide our hearts and minds, that we may be a light in this world, full of love and forgiveness, even for those who have wronged us. We ask this in Your precious name, Jesus. Amen.
We encourage you to forgive this man, just as Jesus has forgiven you. It is only through forgiveness that you can be freed from the bitterness and resentment that can consume your heart.
