We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious sister who is laying her beloved husband to rest today. The pain of loss is deep, and the weight of grief can feel unbearable. Yet we know that our God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We stand with her in this valley of shadows, trusting that the Lord will be her comfort and strength.

Father, we ask You to wrap Your loving arms around this dear woman as she says goodbye to her husband. You are the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). Pour out Your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Remind her that though her husband is no longer with her in body, he is now in the presence of Jesus, free from pain and sorrow, if he had placed his faith in You.

Lord, we pray that You would be her refuge and fortress in this time of sorrow. Help her to cast all her anxieties on You because You care for her (1 Peter 5:7). Surround her with Your people who will weep with her, pray for her, and support her in practical ways. Give her the strength to face each moment, and remind her that You are close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18).

We also pray for wisdom and sensitivity for those who will speak into her life in the coming days. May they point her to You, the Author of hope and the Giver of eternal life. Help her to cling to Your promises, knowing that one day, she will be reunited with her husband in glory if they both knew You as Lord and Savior.

Father, we ask that You would help her to process her grief in a way that honors You. Remind her that it is okay to mourn, for Jesus Himself wept at the tomb of His friend Lazarus (John 11:35). But also remind her that sorrow does not have the final word, joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5). Strengthen her faith as she walks through this dark valley, and help her to trust in Your goodness even when she cannot see it.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who conquered death and offers eternal life to all who believe in Him. May this sister feel Your presence in a tangible way today and in the days ahead. Amen.

To our grieving sister, we want you to know that you are not alone. The Lord sees your tears and collects them in His bottle (Psalm 56:8). He knows the depth of your pain, and He longs to comfort you. Lean on Him, and lean on the body of Christ around you. Allow others to carry your burdens with you, for we are called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2).

If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ, we urge you to consider the hope that He offers. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies” (John 11:25). This hope is not just for the future, it is for today. Jesus is the only way to the Father (John 14:6), and it is only through Him that we can find true peace, even in the midst of grief. If you would like to know more about how to have a personal relationship with Jesus, we would be honored to share that with you. You are loved more than you know.
