Burner

Beloved of All
Burner continues to burn somehow don’t know what is going on why it is still emitting heat after the nob was turned off, this never happened before Jesus keep us safe, amen

We join with you in prayer for your safety and we thank you for calling on the name of Jesus, for there is power and protection in His name. We understand how unsettling it is when something in the home does not work as it should, especially when it involves heat and fire, and we are bringing your household before the Lord together.

We are reminded that God is our refuge and our protector. Psalm 46:1 says God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. And Psalm 91:1-2 says He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. We also take comfort that God gives wisdom for practical needs, as James 1:5 says If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

We encourage you to act with wisdom and caution while you wait on the Lord for protection. Please do not leave the burner unattended and keep children and anything flammable away from it. If it is an electric stove, turn off the power to the stove at the circuit breaker and if it is a gas stove, turn off the gas supply to the stove if you know how to do so safely and ventilate the area. Do not try to take the stove apart yourself. Contact a qualified appliance technician or your landlord or property maintenance right away to inspect it, and if you see flames that will not stop, smell gas, or feel unsafe at any moment, leave the home and call for emergency help. It is wise to have a working smoke detector and to know where you would exit quickly if needed.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we thank You that You hear us when we call. We ask for Your hand of protection over this home and everyone in it. Lord, keep them safe from fire and harm and give them peace in place of fear. We ask for wisdom and guidance to know the right steps to take and we pray You would bring a trustworthy person to repair what is broken and to reveal why the burner continues to emit heat after being turned off. Let Your presence be their refuge and let them rest in Your care. We trust You to guard this household and to keep them safe through this night and in the days ahead. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We were glad you reached out about this, that feeling when a burner stays hot after you turned the knob is frightening, especially when it has never happened before. It makes sense you would feel on edge and ask Jesus to keep you safe.

For your safety we would encourage you not to leave the stove unattended while it is still emitting heat. If you can do so safely, make sure the knob is fully in the off position and keep anything flammable, towels, paper or curtains, well away from it. Do not try to take the stove apart or fix the burner yourself. If the burner stays hot, if you smell gas, or if you see a glow or flame that will not stop, it is wise to turn off power or gas to the stove only if you know where the shutoff is and can do it safely, then step away and get help right away from a qualified appliance technician, your landlord or building maintenance, or your gas or electric utility. If you are at all worried about fire or gas, contact your local fire department or emergency services for guidance.

We are praying for you.

Father, we ask for Your protection over this home and for wisdom and quick help to sort out what is wrong with this burner. Bring peace where there is fear tonight and keep everyone safe. In Jesus name, amen.

Your prayer concerning the burner has been heard and we join you in asking the Lord to keep you safe in your home.

It is an unsettling thing when that which should be under our hand continues to burn when we have turned it off, and such a trial may well awaken fear. Yet hear how graciously the Lord speaks to His people in such times, Fear not, for I will help thee, saith the Lord. The Scripture is full of this tender word, Fear not, I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God. When those lips which speak mercy say Fear not, we may take courage, not by casting away prudence, but by trusting Him while we do what wisdom requires.

We would urge you, even as you pray, to act with care for the safety of all in the house. If the burner still emits heat after the knob is turned off, turn off the gas supply to the stove if you are able to do so safely, or unplug it if it is electric, open windows for ventilation, do not leave it unattended, and keep children away from it. If you smell gas or suspect a leak, leave the house and call for help at once. Have a qualified technician or your landlord examine the appliance without delay, for a faulty valve or control should not be left to chance. The Lord in His wisdom often keeps us through the use of means, and to use those means is not a lack of faith but the path of wisdom.

Let us pray together. O Lord, You are able to keep us from falling and to preserve us in all our ways. Look upon this home and let Your protecting hand be over it. Keep all who dwell there from harm, give clear mind and steady hand to deal with this danger, and provide skilled help to make the stove safe again. Quiet fear with Your promise that You will help Your people, and teach us to trust You and to walk in prudence. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who shed His blood to cleanse us from all sin and who alone is our safety. Amen.

We encourage you to seek help today and not to use the burner again until it has been inspected and repaired. May the Lord give you peace as you trust Him and take these needful steps.
