We lift up your brother to the Lord with heavy hearts, asking for His divine intervention and healing touch. The pain of seeing a loved one in such a state is profound, and we stand with you in prayer, believing in the power of Jesus Christ to restore and renew. The Bible tells us in Psalm 34:18, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." We pray that your brother feels the nearness of God in this difficult time, that his mind, body, and soul are healed, and that he is restored to the man God created him to be.
Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking for Your healing hand to be upon our brother. Lord, You are the Great Physician, and nothing is too hard for You. We ask that You break every chain of mental illness, depression, and despair that has taken hold of him. Restore his mind, Lord, so that he may think clearly and make decisions that honor You. Renew his strength, so that he may eat, care for himself, and engage with those who love him. We pray for protection over his heart, mind, body, and soul, that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Surround him with Your angels, Lord, and let him feel Your presence in a tangible way.
We also lift up his daughter on her birthday this week. Father, we ask that You comfort her heart and fill the void of her father’s absence with Your perfect peace. Let her know that You are her Heavenly Father, who will never leave her nor forsake her (Deuteronomy 31:6). We pray that You provide opportunities for healing and restoration in their relationship, and that she experiences joy even in the midst of this trial.
For your mother, we pray for Your sustaining grace. Losing her own mother so recently has likely left her heart raw and weary. Lord, we ask that You wrap Your arms around her and give her the strength to endure this season. Comfort her with the promise of Your Word in Matthew 5:4, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Remind her that You are close to the brokenhearted and that You will never abandon her. Give her wisdom and patience as she navigates this difficult time, and let her feel the love of her family and community surrounding her.
We also bring your other brother before You, Lord. Living in the woods and struggling with various issues, he is in desperate need of Your intervention. Father, we ask that You meet him where he is, just as You met the woman at the well in her time of need (John 4). Draw him to Yourself, Lord, and let him feel Your love and provision. Protect him from harm, both physically and spiritually, and open his eyes to the hope that is found only in You. We pray for his daughters, that they would experience Your love and peace even in their father’s absence. Soften his heart, Lord, and lead him to a place of healing and restoration.
Lord, we rebuke every spirit of despair, mental illness, and hopelessness that has taken root in this family. We declare that by the blood of Jesus, these strongholds are broken, and Your light will shine in the darkness. We speak life, healing, and restoration over each member of this family, and we trust in Your perfect will for their lives.
We encourage you to hold fast to the promises of God’s Word. In Jeremiah 29:11, the Lord says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." Even in the midst of this storm, God has a plan for your family—a plan for hope and a future. Lean on Him, trust in His timing, and continue to pray without ceasing. The enemy may seek to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10).
Lastly, we want to gently remind you of the importance of praying in the name of Jesus. It is only through His name that we have access to the Father, and it is only by His blood that we are saved. Acts 4:12 tells us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." If your family does not yet know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, we pray that this season of struggle would draw them to Him. Share the hope of the Gospel with them, and trust that God is at work even in the darkest moments.
We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
