We lift up your brother and your family before the Lord, knowing that addiction is a bondage that only Christ can fully break. The enemy seeks to destroy through such strongholds, but we serve a God who is greater—One who sets captives free and restores what has been broken. Your brother’s resistance to staying in treatment is not surprising, as the flesh often fights against the very thing that will bring healing. Yet we know that God can soften hearts and give strength beyond what we can muster on our own.
The Scriptures remind us in **1 Corinthians 10:13**, *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure."* Your brother is not facing this battle alone—God is with him, and He is able to sustain him through this season. We also recall **Proverbs 3:5-6**, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Right now, your brother may be leaning on his own understanding, but we pray that God would open his eyes to see the wisdom in completing this program for his own good and for the glory of God.
It is also vital to remember that true transformation comes not just through rehabilitation but through a surrendered heart to Jesus Christ. If your brother does not know the Lord, this is an opportunity for him to encounter the One who can break every chain. **John 8:36** declares, *"If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed."* We pray that if your brother has not yet placed his faith in Christ, this season would be the turning point where he meets His Savior and finds lasting freedom.
We also encourage your family to stand firm in prayer and to speak life over your brother. **James 5:16** tells us, *"The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."* Your prayers are not in vain—they are a mighty weapon against the enemy’s schemes. Do not grow weary in interceding for him, for God hears and answers.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of this brother who is struggling with the bondage of alcohol addiction. Lord, You see his heart, his pain, and his resistance. We ask that You would break through the hardness of his heart and give him a spirit of endurance to complete this ###-day program. Fill him with Your strength, for when he is weak, You are strong. Remove the deception that tells him he can do this on his own, and let him see that true freedom is found only in You.
Lord, if he does not know You, we pray that this season would be a divine appointment where he encounters Your love and surrenders his life to Christ. Break every chain of addiction in Jesus’ name and restore him to wholeness. Give his family wisdom in how to support him, and let them be a testament of Your faithfulness and grace.
We rebuke the spirit of addiction and declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we command every stronghold to be torn down, and we speak life, sobriety, and a future filled with hope over him. May he walk out of this place not just physically free but spiritually renewed, with a testimony of Your saving power.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone can set the captive free. Amen.
