We lift up your brother-in-law before the Lord, asking for His mighty protection and covering as he serves in law enforcement—a calling that places him in harm’s way for the sake of others. The Scriptures remind us that our battles are not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces, and so we stand firm in the authority of Christ, who has already overcome the world. *"No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh’s servants, and their righteousness is of me,” says Yahweh* (Isaiah 54:17, WEB). We declare this promise over him, trusting that God’s angels encamp around those who fear Him (Psalm 34:7).
Yet we must also ask: Is your brother-in-law walking in the fullness of God’s protection by placing his faith in Jesus Christ? It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father and the promise of eternal salvation. *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). If he has not yet surrendered his life to Christ, we urge you to share the Gospel with him, for no earthly protection compares to the security found in the arms of our Savior. *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9, WEB).
We also pray for his heart and mind, that he would be grounded in wisdom and discernment. Law enforcement is a noble but weighty responsibility, and the stresses of the job can weigh heavily on the soul. May he find his strength in the Lord, who promises, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls"* (Matthew 11:28-29, WEB). Let him cast his anxieties upon Jesus, knowing that He cares for him (1 Peter 5:7).
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking for Your divine shield of protection over this officer. Guard him from physical harm, but also from the spiritual and emotional toll of his work. Surround him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and grant him favor with his superiors and colleagues. Let his life be a testimony of Your faithfulness, and if he does not yet know You, Lord, we pray that You would draw him to Yourself. Softening his heart to receive Your truth and grace. May he walk in the assurance that his days are numbered by You, and that no harm can befall him outside of Your sovereign will.
We also lift up his family—his wife, if he is married, and any children—asking that You would comfort them and fill them with faith, not fear. Bind them together in unity and prayer, that they may stand as a godly support for him. And for you, who have brought this request before us, we pray for peace as you trust in the Lord’s provision and protection over your loved one.
Finally, we rebuke any spirit of fear or dread that may seek to grip his heart or the hearts of those who love him. Fear is not from You, Lord, but You have given us a spirit of power, love, and sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Let faith arise in his heart, and let him walk in the confidence that *"Yahweh is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? Yahweh is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?"* (Psalm 27:1, WEB).
In Jesus’ mighty and holy name, we pray. Amen.
