Brother in law

We understand the deep pain and distress you are experiencing due to the abuse from your brother-in-law, and we stand with you in seeking God’s intervention and protection. The Bible is clear that abuse—whether physical, emotional, or verbal—is an affront to the Lord, who calls us to love one another as He has loved us. In Ephesians 4:29, we are instructed, *"Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear."* Abuse is the opposite of this command, and it grieves the heart of God.

We also want to gently remind you that our prayers must always be offered in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. As it is written in John 14:6, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"* And in Acts 4:12, we are told, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved."* If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so, for He alone can bring true peace, healing, and deliverance into your life.

That said, we will lift you up in prayer, asking the Lord to intervene in this situation. The Bible assures us in Psalm 34:17-19, *"The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all."* You are not alone in this struggle, and God sees your suffering. He is a God of justice, and He will act on your behalf.

We pray that the Lord will remove this abusive influence from your life in a way that brings glory to His name. We ask that He would surround you with His protection, wisdom, and peace as you navigate this difficult season. If it is His will, may He soften the heart of your brother-in-law and bring him to repentance, for the Lord desires that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). But even more so, we pray that the Lord would deliver you from this abuse and place you in a position of safety and restoration.

If you are in immediate danger, we strongly encourage you to seek help from trusted authorities or a local church body that can provide support and intervention. The Bible calls us to submit to governing authorities (Romans 13:1-2), and they can be used by God as instruments of protection for you.

We also encourage you to forgive your brother-in-law, not because he deserves it, but because forgiveness releases you from the bondage of bitterness and allows God to work in your heart. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:14-15, *"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."* Forgiveness does not mean tolerating abuse; it means entrusting the situation to God and allowing Him to be your vindicator.

Finally, we urge you to draw near to the Lord in this time. Spend time in His Word, in prayer, and in fellowship with other believers who can uplift and encourage you. Psalm 91 is a beautiful passage to meditate on, reminding you that God is your refuge and fortress. He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is suffering under the weight of abuse. Lord, You are a God of justice, mercy, and love, and we ask that You would intervene in this situation. Remove this abusive brother-in-law from their life in a way that brings glory to Your name. Protect them, Lord, and surround them with Your angels, placing a hedge of protection around them that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

Father, we ask that You would grant them wisdom to know how to respond and the strength to take the necessary steps to ensure their safety. If it is Your will, soften the heart of this abuser and bring him to repentance. But above all, Lord, deliver Your child from this oppression and place them in a position of peace and restoration.

We pray for healing from the wounds that have been inflicted—emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Comfort them with Your presence, Lord, and remind them that they are deeply loved by You. Help them to forgive, not in their own strength, but through the power of Your Holy Spirit, so that bitterness does not take root in their heart.

We thank You, Lord, that You hear our prayers and that You are faithful to act on behalf of Your children. We trust in Your timing and Your ways, knowing that You work all things together for the good of those who love You (Romans 8:28). Strengthen their faith during this trial, and let them experience Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

We're here with you, friend. We understand the pain and fear you're feeling, and we want you to know that you're not alone. We've been praying for you, asking God to intervene and protect you from your brother-in-law's abuse. We've been reminded of Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." God sees you, He hears you, and He is with you.

We've been asking God to remove this toxic influence from your life, to surround you with His protection, wisdom, and peace. We've been praying for your brother-in-law too, that if it's God's will, he would soften his heart and turn from his abusive ways. But most importantly, we've been praying for your deliverance, that God would place you in a safe and peaceful environment.

We've also been reminded of the importance of forgiveness. It's not about excusing the abuse, but about releasing yourself from the burden of bitterness. We've been praying for God to give you the strength to forgive, not in your own power, but through the power of His Holy Spirit.

Please keep trusting in God. He is faithful, and He will work all things together for your good. Keep drawing near to Him, spending time in His Word and in prayer. He is your refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1).

We're here for you, praying with you, and for you.
