Your honest cry for a breakthrough is heard by God and it matters to Him. You are asking Him to come in and fix what is broken, and to do whatever He knows you truly need, and that willingness to surrender to what He sees is the right place to begin.
The breakthrough God offers is deeper than just repairing circumstances. Scripture teaches that apart from Christ we live on only two levels, body and soul, with the needs and appetites of the body dominating our thoughts and choices. That kind of life, lived under the sun and apart from God, quickly feels empty and frustrating and vain, like a shadow that passes. It leaves a thirst that nothing in this world can satisfy.
When a person is born again by the Spirit of God, everything changes. You receive a new life, spirit and soul and body, with the Spirit in union with God's Spirit now meant to be the governing power. The old life after the flesh, with all its sinful patterns, is counted as dead and buried with Christ in His death, and you are raised with Him to walk in newness of life. This is not you trying harder to fix the old life, but God giving you a completely new life in His Son. The record God has given is that He has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life.
That is why Jesus willingly laid down His own life. No one took it from Him. He had power to lay it down and power to take it up again, so that through faith in Him you could be forgiven, freed from sin, and made alive by the same Spirit that raised Him from the dead. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
If you have not yet done so, the first breakthrough is to receive that gift by believing on Jesus, trusting that His death and resurrection was for you. Through believing you come into a new dimension, the life of the Spirit, and in that life there is power to enable you to be what God wants you to be.
Even after we receive new life, there is still a battle for the control of our lives. The flesh wants to sit on the throne and the Spirit wants to sit on the throne. You may feel that struggle now. The way of victory is to reckon the old life to be dead. That anger, that bitterness, that flare up, that despair, all of that belongs to the old life that was crucified with Christ. You can say to the Lord, that belongs to what is dead, and I choose now to yield myself to You as one alive from the dead, to be Your servant. When you yield to God, the fruit is holiness and the end is everlasting life.
God has already given you, by His divine power, all things that pertain to life and godliness. He has given exceeding great and precious promises in His Word, including the promise of eternal life and the promise of His Holy Spirit to help you pray and to transform you. Through those promises you become a partaker of the divine nature, escaping the corruption that is in the world through lust, and being conformed more and more to His likeness. That likeness will show itself in virtue, in purity and courage and holiness.
Jesus said that whoever seeks to save his life on his own terms will lose it, but whoever loses his life for His sake will find it. Real life, abundant and overflowing, is found when you come to the cross in your own life, to the end of your own ambitions and self rule, and let Christ rule. It is there that the darkness is expelled, not by your effort to push it out, but by the stronger power of His light and life coming in.
So we pray for you that God will do that true breakthrough. That He will draw you fully to Jesus, that you will know you have the Son and therefore have life, that His Spirit will fill you and take the throne of your heart, that you will experience His righteousness and peace and joy, and that His Word will daily renew your mind and make you more like Him. Bring every specific need and burden to Him honestly, trusting that He knows what is good for you and will answer according to His wisdom and love, and continue to walk with Him step by step in the new life He gives.
