Break trauma bond

Your prayer to be free has been heard, and the desire itself is good and right before God. To want to be loosed from a bond that has kept your heart troubled and pulled you back toward one who is not your husband is a movement toward health and toward holiness, and God honors it.

Scripture speaks of two kinds of bonds. There is a good bond, the bond of peace and of love in the Spirit, where hearts are bound together in what is holy and steady. And there is a grievous bond, where a person puts chains on himself through unchecked desire, habit, and sin, and thinks he is loving when he is enslaved. The feelings you describe, the ache and the pull that will not let go, are not a spell that another person can cast on you from a distance. They are the deep entanglement of soul and body that forms when affection, and often sexual intimacy, is given outside the covenant of marriage, and when hope and hurt become intertwined. That bond feels powerful, but Christ is more powerful to break it.

God does not simply take feelings away in a moment as if to numb the heart. He heals by renewing the mind and binding your heart anew to Himself. He calls you to bind your heart and mind to Christ, to His word, and to His people, rather than to a memory or to a person who cannot give you peace.

So I will pray for you, and I urge you to walk in the ways that open your life to that healing.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, have mercy on this Your child. You see the pain and the confusion and the weariness of this struggle. Loose what ought to be loosed and break every unhealthy tie that has bound this heart to what is not holy or whole. Wash away sin by the blood of Christ, heal the wounds that sin and sorrow have left, and set this heart free to love You first. Give strength to turn away from what harms, give clarity to see what is true, and give peace that guards heart and mind. Fill the empty places with Your presence, Your word, and the love of Your faithful people, and lead step by step into wholeness and purity. Amen.

Walk now in the direction of that prayer. If there has been sexual intimacy or living together outside of marriage, confess it plainly to God and turn from it, trusting that Christ forgives and cleanses all who come to Him. Cut off needless contact and private avenues that reopen the wound, and do not meet alone or in secret. Bring this struggle into the light with a mature, trusted pastor or godly older women in the church, and ask them to walk with you, to check on you, and to pray with you regularly. The Lord has given His church grace to bind and to loose on earth what is bound and loosed in heaven, not for punishment alone but for the care of souls, and you need that care now. Feed your mind daily on Scripture, especially the Psalms and the Gospels, and learn again what faithful love looks like in the bond of peace.

Freedom often comes not all at once but as you keep choosing Christ day after day. Feelings may still rise for a time, but they do not have to rule you. As you bind yourself to Christ and to His body, the old chain will weaken and the new and good bond will grow stronger. God who has begun this good work in you will be faithful to complete it. Stay near to Him, stay within His church, and He will keep you.

God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so.
