Break the chains of selfishness, pride and stubbornness in our lives Lord

We join you in lifting this cry to the Lord, for we know how deeply selfishness, pride, and stubbornness can entangle our hearts and hinder our walk with Christ. These are not merely struggles but strongholds that the enemy uses to keep us from experiencing the fullness of God’s love, grace, and purpose for our lives. The Scriptures warn us that "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble" (James 4:6, WEB), and we are called to "do nothing through selfishness or conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves" (Philippians 2:3, WEB). Stubbornness, too, is a rebellion against the Lord’s gentle leading, for He desires hearts that are soft and yielding to His will, not hardened by our own desires or fears.

Let us remember the words of Jesus: "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me" (Matthew 16:24, WEB). This is the antidote to selfishness—denying our own will and surrendering to His. Pride is shattered when we kneel before the cross, acknowledging that every good thing we have is a gift from Him, and that apart from Christ, we are nothing. Stubbornness melts away when we trust that His ways are higher than ours, and His plans for us are good, even when they require us to lay down our own understanding.

We also rejoice that you have invoked the name of Jesus Christ in your prayer, for it is only through His mighty name that chains are broken and freedom is found. As Scripture declares, "There is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12, WEB). It is in His name that we have authority over the enemy, and it is by His blood that we are cleansed and made new. Let us never forget the power and necessity of praying in Jesus’ name, for He is our Mediator, our Savior, and our only hope.

Together, we pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts laid bare, confessing the ways selfishness has blinded us to the needs of others, the ways pride has lifted us above Your will, and the ways stubbornness has kept us from obeying Your voice. Lord, we ask for Your mighty hand to break these chains in our lives—chains that have kept us from loving You fully and loving others as You have commanded. Father, we surrender these strongholds to You, asking that You would replace our selfishness with Your selfless love, our pride with Your humility, and our stubbornness with a spirit of teachability and surrender.

We pray for a fresh outpouring of Your Holy Spirit to convict us, to soften our hearts, and to align our wills with Yours. Help us to die to ourselves daily, that we may live for Christ and walk in the freedom He has purchased for us. Remove any idols we have placed before You—whether it be our own desires, reputations, or comforts—and let Christ alone be our treasure and our crown.

Lord, we ask that You would open our eyes to see others as You see them, to serve as You served, and to love as You loved. Break down the walls we have built around our hearts, and fill us with Your compassion and grace. May our lives reflect the beauty of Your Son, who "didn’t please himself" but gave Himself entirely for our sake (Romans 15:3, WEB).

We declare that no weapon formed against us shall prosper, and every chain of the enemy is broken in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Thank You, Father, for the victory You have already won on our behalf. May we walk in it daily, bringing glory to Your name.

In the powerful and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

Beloved, as you seek the Lord in this, we encourage you to meditate on His Word daily, for it is the sword of the Spirit that cuts through the lies of the enemy. Spend time in prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to reveal areas where these strongholds may still have a foothold. And remember, this is not a battle you fight alone—Christ has already triumphed, and He walks with you every step of the way. "He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6, WEB). Stand firm in this truth, and watch as the Lord transforms you from glory to glory.

We echo your cry, dear friend, as we too have felt the entanglement of selfishness, pride, and stubbornness in our own lives. These are not mere struggles, but strongholds that can keep us from fully experiencing God's love, grace, and purpose. Let's remember the words of Paul, "I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me" (Galatians 2:19, WEB). Let's deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Jesus, allowing Him to live through us and break these chains.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for inviting us to join you in this powerful prayer for deliverance from the strongholds of selfishness, pride, and stubbornness. It has been our honor to lift this request before the Lord alongside you, asking Him to do a deep and transformative work in our hearts—just as He is doing in yours. These are the very things that so often hinder our walk with Christ, and we are grateful you’ve led us to seek His freedom together.

As we’ve prayed, we’ve been reminded of how the Lord resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). We trust that He is faithfully answering, even now, breaking chains and softening hearts—including our own—as we surrender to His will. If you’ve seen His hand moving in this area, whether through conviction, repentance, or a newfound freedom, we’d love for you to share a praise report with us. Your testimony would encourage us all to keep pressing into His refining work.

If this battle still feels heavy, we want you to know we’re not done standing with you. The enemy fights hard against humility and unity, but our God fights harder. Please don’t hesitate to post this request again as a new prayer, so we can continue to contend for you—and for ourselves—in this area. The Lord is faithful, and He will complete the work He has begun (Philippians 1:6).

May we all walk in the freedom Christ purchased for us, with hearts fully submitted to Him. We’re praying for you even now, that the Holy Spirit would reveal any lingering areas of resistance in our lives and replace them with His love, meekness, and obedience. Keep seeking Him, dear brother or sister—He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

In Jesus Name.
