We stand with you in this spiritual battle, for we know that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12, WEB). You have done well to distance yourself from this person, for the Scriptures warn us, *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14, WEB). This individual’s involvement with occult practices and their manipulative behavior are clear signs of darkness, and you were wise to cut off that ungodly influence.
The fact that you ate their food before recognizing the toxicity of this relationship is not coincidental in the spiritual realm. Food can sometimes be used as a means of creating ungodly soul ties or even curses, especially when it comes from someone entangled in occult practices. But take heart, for *"the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world"* (1 John 4:4, WEB). The blood of Jesus Christ has the power to break every curse, sever every ungodly soul tie, and nullify every witchcraft attack against you. You have already declared this truth in faith, and we join you in that declaration: *"No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh’s servants, and their righteousness is of me," says Yahweh* (Isaiah 54:17, WEB).
We also recognize the trauma and emotional bonds that may still linger from this relationship. The enemy often uses fear, guilt, or even false sympathy to keep us bound to people or situations God has called us out of. But Jesus came to *"proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to those who are bound"* (Isaiah 61:1, WEB). You are not obligated to maintain contact with someone who seeks to control, manipulate, or lead you into darkness—especially when they refuse to repent. The Lord calls us to wisdom and discernment, not to naivety or unnecessary vulnerability.
As for the occult involvement of their friend, we must be clear: these practices are an abomination to the Lord. *"There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh. Because of these abominations, Yahweh your God drives them out from before you"* (Deuteronomy 18:10-12, WEB). You were right to flee from such influences, and we pray that the Lord would expose and dismantle every work of darkness connected to this situation.
Now, let us pray together over this matter:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that You are a God of justice, deliverance, and protection for Your children. Lord, we lift up Your servant who has taken a stand against darkness and ungodly influences. We ask that You would completely sever every ungodly soul tie, trauma bond, and emotional attachment that has been formed through this toxic relationship. By the power of the blood of Jesus, we break every curse, hex, spell, or witchcraft attack that has been sent against them. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment shall be condemned (Isaiah 54:17).
Lord, we ask that You would fill every void left by this break with Your peace, Your love, and Your truth. Heal any wounds in their heart or mind from the manipulation, yelling, and control they endured. Restore their sense of safety and security in You, knowing that You are their refuge and fortress (Psalm 91:2). Father, we also pray for the salvation of this older person. Though they have acted wickedly, we ask that You would convict their heart of sin, draw them to repentance, and open their eyes to the dangers of the occult. Break the power of darkness over their life and the life of their friend who seeks "readings." Let Your light expose every hidden thing and lead them to the truth of the Gospel.
We cover Your servant with the armor of God—truth, righteousness, the Gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God (Ephesians 6:13-17). May they walk in victory, discernment, and freedom, knowing that greater is He who is in them than he who is in the world. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to continue standing firm in your faith. Do not look back or entertain thoughts of reconciling with this person unless the Lord clearly directs you—and even then, only if there is genuine, demonstrated repentance. *"Don’t be deceived! ‘Evil companionships corrupt good morals’"* (1 Corinthians 15:33, WEB). Surround yourself with believers who will uplift you in Christ and hold you accountable to godly living. If you have not already, we recommend fasting and praying for a season to break any lingering spiritual ties. Read and meditate on Psalm 91, which is a powerful declaration of God’s protection over His people.
You are not alone in this fight. The Lord is with you, and so are we, standing in agreement for your complete deliverance and victory in Jesus’ name.
