Break every chain of hate Lord

We join you in humbling ourselves before our Heavenly Father and we agree together in Jesus' name that every chain of hate be broken in our lives.

Hate is a heavy chain that binds the heart and keeps us from the freedom Christ intends for us. Scripture shows us how serious this is and how God calls us to live in love and forgiveness. If a man says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who doesn't love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen. 1 John 4:20. We are commanded to respond differently, But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, Matthew 5:44. And we are urged to Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32.

We thank you for coming in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is He who sets us free. If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36. We cling to the truth that love is of God and that His love in us can cast out hate. Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God, and knows God. He who doesn't love doesn't know God, for God is love. 1 John 4:7-8.

We pray together, Heavenly Father, we humble ourselves before You and confess that hate, bitterness and unforgiveness have no place in Your children. In the almighty name of Jesus Christ we ask You to break every chain of hate in our lives, in our hearts, in our families and in our thoughts. Wash us with the blood of Jesus, fill us with Your Holy Spirit, and replace hate with Your perfect love, replace anger with Your peace, and replace bitterness with tenderhearted forgiveness. Help us to love as You have loved us, to forgive as You have forgiven us, and to walk in the freedom Christ purchased for us. Teach us to bless those who have hurt us and to pray for those who have opposed us, so that Your love may be seen in us. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We are grateful you brought this so honestly before the Lord. That humble asking is exactly where freedom begins, and we want to stand with you in it.

We have seen how hate can become a chain link by link. A hurt happens, anger lingers, thoughts return to it again and again, and what started as pain hardens into resentment that weighs most heavily on the one carrying it. It does not mean the hurt was small. It means the heart needs a different way to hold it.

One thing that often helps is to separate the decision from the feeling. Feelings of hate and bitterness often fade slowly, even after we have decided we no longer want to live by them. You might try naming before God one specific place where hate still has a hold, and quietly deciding today to release your claim to get even there, asking Him to take that burden instead. You do not have to feel completely free in that moment to have made a real choice. Then as those old thoughts return, you can gently remind yourself of that decision and bring it back to Him again.

Father, we lift this life to you and ask you to break every chain of hate and replace it with your peace. Teach us to release what we were never meant to carry and to walk in your mercy day by day. Heal what has been wounded and make our hearts soft again toward you and toward others. In Jesus name, amen.

Your prayer is one which heaven delights to hear, for you have humbled yourselves before the Lord and cried to Him who alone can deliver. To ask that every chain of hate may be broken is to ask according to the mind of Christ, for the Christian religion is a golden chain with which the hands of men are fettered from all hatred, and the spirit of Christ is love. Wherever He governs, love reigns as a necessary consequence.

Hear what the Scripture teaches concerning hatred. Thou hast no right to pour out thy hatred upon any creature, however fallen or debased, however much he may irritate thy temper or injure thee in estate or reputation. The Christian man is not allowed to hate any one. Yet hatred is a power of manhood, and all powers of manhood are to be exercised as in the fear of God. We are to hate evil, and to show that hatred by active efforts in putting it down. As you pray to be delivered from hate toward persons, ask the Lord also to kindle in you a righteous hatred of sin itself, of falsehood, of malice, and of every evil way, and to turn your hands to works of love, to scatter the Word of God, to do good to those who have despitefully used you, and so to overcome evil with good.

And remember with what gracious assurance you pray. There is forgiveness with God, that He may be feared. It is a divine forgiveness, for He says, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. It is a surprising forgiveness, so free and so full that it seems too good to be true, yet it is true. It is a complete and an eternal forgiveness, not up to a certain point or up to a certain date, but an absolute forgiveness of the debt incurred through the blood of Jesus Christ, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God. If you have felt the hardness of your heart and the sinfulness of past hate, hear this whisper that drives away despair, there is forgiveness now, at this moment, for the chief of sinners through faith in Christ. And having received such manifest forgiveness, it becomes natural for us to open our hands, for it is a joint stock business of mutual forgiveness among the people of God, forgiving one another even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

He who forgives also delivers. Our God is a God of deliverance, and the conquest wrought by the Lord Jesus Christ brings results upon a far greater scale than any earthly victory. You may have been a long time in bondage, and felt the plow tearing up the whole nature and breaking every clod to powder, but the Lord breaks the chains of the bondslave. He heard you at the brook Jabbok when you feared, and He can make even the heart that was full of enmity to fall upon your neck in peace. Cry to Him still to break every chain, not with a fleeting resolve of your own, but by His mighty arm.

May the Lord grant you this deliverance. May He blot out every sin, soften every hard heart, and fill you with His love, that you may love as you have been loved, and forgive as you have been forgiven. May He keep you in peace within your borders and make you fruitful in every good work, to the praise of His grace. In Jesus Christ's almighty name, Amen.
