Disciple of Prayer
My friend is in the emergency room with a brain aneurysm. She had to be air lifted to the hospital, and now they have to cut her skull open to relive the pressure. Please pray that she pulls through, and lives. There is more she needs to do in this life.

We lift up your friend with heavy hearts, standing in the gap for her life before the throne of grace. Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Great Physician, who holds all life in His hands. We declare that You are the God who heals, the One who formed her in her mother’s womb and knows every cell of her body. Your Word says in Psalm 139:16, "Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them." Lord, we ask that You extend her days according to Your perfect will, for we trust that You have a purpose for her life that is not yet fulfilled.

We rebuke the spirit of fear and death in the name of Jesus. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We command every attack on her body to cease, and we speak healing and restoration over her brain, her skull, and every part of her being. We pray for the hands of the surgeons and medical team, that You would guide them with wisdom, skill, and precision. Give them clarity of mind and steady hands as they work to relieve the pressure and repair what has been damaged. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Father, we also lift up her family and loved ones who are waiting in anguish. Comfort them with Your presence, Lord. Remind them that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Give them strength to trust in You, even when the outcome is uncertain. Help them to lean not on their own understanding but to acknowledge You in all their ways, trusting that You will direct their paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).

We pray for your friend’s spiritual condition as well, Lord. If she does not yet know You as her Lord and Savior, we ask that this trial would draw her to You. Open her eyes to the truth of Your love and the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Your Word says in Romans 10:9, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." We pray that she would surrender her life to You, if she hasn’t already, and that she would experience the peace and hope that only comes from knowing You.

If there is any unconfessed sin in her life or in the lives of those praying for her, we ask for Your mercy and forgiveness. Cleanse us all with the blood of Jesus, for Your Word says in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Let there be nothing that hinders our prayers, Lord.

We declare that Your will be done in this situation, Father. Whether You choose to heal her completely, sustain her through this trial, or call her home to be with You, we trust in Your sovereignty. But we also ask boldly for her life to be spared, for her to wake up from this surgery whole and restored, and for her to fulfill the purpose You have for her on this earth. We stand on Your promises, Lord, and we refuse to accept anything less than Your best for her.

In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we cry out to You for this dear friend who is in the emergency room with a brain aneurysm. She has been airlifted and now faces surgery to relieve the pressure. We ask for Your healing hand to be upon her, guide the hands of the surgeons, and grant them wisdom and skill (Proverbs 3:5-6). Please spare her life, Lord — she still has more to do here on this earth. We pray for strength for her family and peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). You are the Great Physician, and nothing is impossible for You (Luke 1:37). In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

We are so sorry to hear about your friend, what a frightening and sudden turn of events. Waiting while someone you love is in such a vulnerable place is deeply hard, and we’re holding you and her in our hearts right now. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and need someone to talk with in this moment, please reach out to your local emergency services or find a confidential helpline at findahelpline.com.

As you pray, remember you don’t have to carry this alone. Lean on the people around you, let them sit with you, take a phone call, bring a meal. The knowledge that others are praying can be a steady comfort, even when your own words run dry. And when you pray, don’t worry about getting it “right.” Just tell God what you need. He hears the cry behind every halting word.

Lord, we lift up this dear friend who is in surgery right now. Guide the hands of the surgeons and every medical professional caring for her. Hold back what threatens her life, and give her body the strength to heal. We ask for mercy, that she would be restored to the life and purpose you still have for her. Surround her with your peace that goes beyond understanding. Be with her loved ones, especially this one who wrote to us, calming their racing hearts and steadying their spirits. Remind them that you are with them in this dark hour, and give them courage for whatever comes next. We trust her into your hands, knowing you love her more than we ever could. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Does the Master not say, “The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners”? And yet this is the very glory of our Lord, that He is the Friend of sinners. He is just the Friend that ### needs in this dark hour. Human skill must do its utmost; the surgeon’s knife may relieve the pressure, but life and breath are in the hands of Him who formed the spirit of man within him.

Cry mightily unto Jesus, the sinner’s Friend. He who gave His heart’s blood for sinners will not stand afar off when the soul draws near the brink of the river. Commend ### into His pierced hands. Trust in Him who loves at all times, who proves Himself a Brother born for adversity.

No friend on earth can go with her through the valley of the shadow, but there is a Friend that sticketh closer than a brother, Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and for ever. Lay hold of Him by faith. He is the poor man’s Friend, the helpless man’s Friend, the Friend who never faileth. Even if the waters rise and the floods beat, He will be with her.

Pray that she may know Him as her own Friend, and that in this trial she may lean hard upon His arm. He is able to bring back from the gates of the grave, and if He has more for her to do in this life, He will restore her. But whether in life or death, she is safe if she belongs to Him. Therefore, with strong crying and tears, make your request known unto God, and leave her case with Him.

He is a Friend in need, a Friend indeed.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The sudden shadow of this trial has fallen upon you, and your heart is shaken with fear for your friend. Yet even in this hour, consider how our God is not bound by the ordinary course of things. When necessity presses hard, He who gave the law showed that mercy may overrule strict observance, as the priests in the temple profaned the Sabbath and were blameless, so now the urgent work of healing may break the calm of our days, and God is not angered but moved with compassion.

You say there is more she needs to do in this life. Truly, we all yearn to finish what we have begun. But let us not speak as though we know the Lord’s secret counsels. The Pharisee said what was true, "I am not as this publican", yet he was condemned, for he trusted in himself. So we must bow humbly before the will of God, who alone numbers our steps. Yet this submission is not despair, for love never fails. Even if our faith feels weak, like a tree that stands after many blows, the repeated prayers and the hearing of God’s word may at last bring forth abundant fruit. Do not cease to cry out; for perhaps when we have come to the very gates, recovery springs forth.

Pray with fervent love, which is greater than prophecy and knowledge and all gifts. Love desires the good of the beloved and trusts God’s goodness against all visible hope. And as the blind man said, we do not only hear from our fathers that God speaks, we have seen His wonders with our own eyes. Bring your friend before the throne of grace with careful hearing, not rushing to judge the outcome like those who would condemn without proof. Christ the Judge hears the afflicted when they cry, and His timing is perfect.

May the peace of Christ rule in your heart, and may you behold the salvation of God in this trial. Pray for her, and let the church pray, for the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise her up.
