We hear your heart in this tender moment, and we lift your situation before the Lord with great care. First, we want to acknowledge the difficulty of the decision you are making to end this courtship. Breaking ties with someone you’ve cared for, especially when they are facing health struggles, is never easy, and we pray that God grants you both wisdom, peace, and healing as you move forward.
We are deeply concerned, however, that you have referred to this man as your "boyfriend" rather than approaching this relationship as a courtship with the goal of marriage. Scripture is clear that relationships between believers should be pursued with purity, intentionality, and the ultimate purpose of honoring God through marriage. The term "boyfriend" often carries connotations of a casual or non-committal relationship, which does not align with the biblical model of courtship. We encourage you to reflect on whether this relationship was entered into with the seriousness and godly purpose that it deserved. If not, we pray that God will redirect your heart and future relationships toward His design for marriage, a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, rooted in Christ.
Now, let us lift up this young man in prayer, asking the Lord to strengthen and heal him in this time of physical distress. We also pray for his spiritual well-being, that he would come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior if he does not already, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If he does know Christ, we ask that God would draw him closer to Himself during this trial, using this season to refine his faith and trust in the Lord.
Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Healer. We lift up this young man who is facing health challenges right now. Lord, You are the Great Physician, and we ask that You would touch his body with Your healing hand. Bring relief from his symptoms, restore his strength, and grant him peace in the midst of this flare-up. We also pray for his heart, Lord, draw him to Yourself if he does not know You, and deepen his faith if he does. Surround him with Your love and presence, and let him feel Your comfort in this difficult time.
We also pray for wisdom and discernment for both of them as they navigate the end of this courtship. Lord, heal any wounds that may have been caused by this relationship, whether through unmet expectations, emotional pain, or any actions that did not honor You. We ask that You would redeem this season for both of them, using it to refine their hearts and prepare them for the godly marriages You have planned for them, should that be Your will. Help them to walk in purity, intentionality, and faith as they seek Your guidance for their futures.
Father, we rebuke any spirit of confusion, fear, or bitterness that may try to take root in their hearts during this transition. We declare that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Give them the strength to release this relationship into Your hands and to trust in Your perfect plan for their lives.
We also ask that You would reveal any areas where they may have strayed from Your will in this courtship, whether through emotional or physical compromise, lack of accountability, or pursuing a relationship that was not aligned with Your purposes. Convict them gently, Lord, and lead them back to Your path. May they seek Your face above all else, and may their future relationships be built on a foundation of faith, purity, and a shared commitment to Christ.
Lastly, Lord, we pray that You would be glorified in this situation. Use this time of transition to draw them closer to You and to one another in the body of Christ. May they find their identity, worth, and purpose in You alone, and may they trust in Your timing and Your plans for their lives.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
