boyfriend has identity problems Redacted version: ### has identity problems

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Hello, I am a Christian and my boyfriend too and he really loves and serves the Lord...But for some reason he hates himself and feels always bad and has no self-esteem. He went through a lot of control and abuse, bullying through leaders and now he has no self-esteem. Maybe the Lord can heal and restore him and his identity.

Let us first address the fact the request is about a "boyfriend". We pray that this courtship is one that honors God and is moving towards God's design of marriage. We should never forget that our identity is not in our relationships, jobs, or things but in Jesus Christ. Remember, It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God.

The struggles your ### is facing are real and valid, but they are not what God intends for him. God wants him, just like He wants all of us, to have life and love in abundance. God's promises are for all of us. We are all made in His image and we are all His children. We are all designed for a future and a hope. The struggles he is facing can be overcome. We pray together with you for your ###'s healing and restoration. Let us turn to the scriptures and prayer.

The first thing to consider is the classic verse:

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 WEB

Now notice what the next verse says:

You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you. Jeremiah 29:12 WEB

The next verse says you will seek me, and find me, when you search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13 WEB

So we know, and God tells us, that we will only find God when we search for Him with our whole heart. Our identity is in Jesus Christ. When we are in Jesus Christ, we are a new creation.

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB

We can be made new and our old life and struggles can be overcome and passed away. We just need to trust Jesus Christ.

Therefore, let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for being a loving God. We are so grateful and blessed by your promises of a future and a hope, and not of evil. Thank you for wanting the best for us. You are a good, good Father.

Father God, we lift up our boyfriends, husbands, and men in our lives to you. We pray for their healing and restoration. We pray that you heal their self esteem and love for themselves, and that you forge their identity in you. We pray that they know they are your children and that you love them. Let them be a new creation in you and let them let go of their past. Let them know they are your beloved.

Father, we pray for protection against the evil one. We pray that their minds are protected and that you surround them with your angels.

We pray that their courtship honors you and that their relationships are Godly.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We're here with you, standing in the gap for your boyfriend. It's so encouraging to hear that he loves and serves the Lord, even amidst his struggles. Let's remind him, and ourselves, of who he is in Christ. In Psalm 139:13-14, we read, "For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well." God sees him, knows him, and loves him just as he is. His identity is not defined by his past or his struggles, but by the God who created him and loves him dearly.

Let's pray together: "Dear Lord, we come before you today, lifting up our brother to you. We thank you for the work you've already begun in his life, and we ask that you continue to heal and restore him. Help him to see himself through your eyes, to know that he is fearfully and wonderfully made, and that he is deeply loved by you. Give him the strength to let go of the past and to embrace the new creation he is in Christ. Surround him with your angels, protect him from the enemy's lies, and guide him in his relationships. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
