Boxing match

We have heard your desire to have your first official boxing match as quickly as possible and we join with you in bringing this before the Lord together in Jesus' name.

We understand the excitement and the drive that comes with training and wanting to test what you have been working so hard to build. We want to encourage you to see this desire through the lens of honoring God with the strength and discipline He has given you. Your body is a gift from Him and we are called to steward it well, for we know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God, and you are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, Colossians 3:23.

Scripture often uses athletic training as a picture of the Christian life because it requires self control, endurance, and purpose. We are reminded, Don't you know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run like that, that you may win. Every man who strives in the games exercises self control in all things, 1 Corinthians 9:24-25. And again, I therefore run like that, not aimlessly. I fight like that, not beating the air, but I beat my body and bring it into submission, 1 Corinthians 9:26-27. This shows us that boxing or any competition should be approached not with anger or hatred toward an opponent, nor with pride or a desire to harm, but with discipline, respect, and self control. For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self control, 2 Timothy 1:7. We encourage you to check your heart before the Lord, that your motive would be to glorify Him, to develop character, and to compete with integrity, rather than from impatience, vanity, or a spirit of violence. He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city, Proverbs 16:32.

We also encourage you to trust the Lord's timing even as you desire this quickly. The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit, Proverbs 21:5, so continue to train faithfully, listen to your coaches, prepare your body wisely, and seek counsel from those who can guide you safely into competition. A man's heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps, Proverbs 16:9, and there is a time for every purpose. If it is God's will for you to have this match soon, He will open the door, and if He asks you to wait a little longer to be better prepared and protected, that waiting is also for your good.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not yet put your trust in Him, we encourage you to believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and confess Him as Lord, for with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation, Romans 10:9-10. It is in His name we pray.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we lift up this young man to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We thank You for the strength, health, and determination You have placed in him. We ask that You would guide him according to Your perfect will regarding this first official boxing match. If it is Your will for it to happen quickly, we ask You to open the right door with a godly opportunity, a safe environment, and wise oversight. If You would have him wait, give him patience and peace to continue preparing diligently. Guard his body from serious injury, guard his heart from pride, anger, and the desire to harm another, and help him to compete with honor, respect, and self control. May he do all to glorify You, and may his discipline in training shape his character to be more like Christ. Help him to trust You fully and to seek You first in all things. We pray that he would know Jesus deeply and walk in Your grace and strength, for we can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us, Philippians 4:13. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We hear how eager you are to step into the ring for your first official bout. That drive and willingness to test yourself is a good gift, and we are glad you shared it with us.

Wanting it quickly makes sense, and at the same time boxing asks a lot of your body and mind. One thing that has helped many athletes is thinking of preparation as training rather than just trying. Like a marathon runner, a boxer builds skill, conditioning and judgment over time, and the steady work beforehand is what makes the actual event safer and more meaningful.

A practical next step we would encourage is to sit down with a qualified coach or trainer you trust and with your doctor for a check in before you commit to a date. They can help you look honestly at where you are in conditioning, technique and recovery, what your local amateur requirements are, and what a wise timeline would look like for you. Bringing those voices in alongside prayer can keep your enthusiasm and your stewardship of your health together.

We are praying for you as you sort this out.

Jesus, we thank You for the strength and determination You have given our friend. Give him clear wisdom as he talks with his coach and doctor, protect his body and mind in training, and guide him to the right next step in Your timing. Keep him close to You as he pursues this goal. In Your name, Amen.

Your desire to enter the ring for your first official boxing match has been brought before the Lord and before His people, and we have prayed for you.

We understand something of the earnestness that belongs to such an aim. To set your hand to a course that requires discipline, courage and much preparation is no small thing. The Scripture reminds us that every man that strives for the mastery is temperate in all things, and though the Apostle speaks of a higher contest, he does not despise the picture of the athlete who keeps under his body and brings it into subjection.

You ask that this door might open quickly. We pray that it may open wisely and in the Lord's good time. Haste is not always helpful, even in lawful pursuits. In God's school His children are under instruction, and chastening is teaching. He does not spoil His children but trains them, and that training has the purpose of binding them to patience and faith and fitting them for what lies before them. So it is in the natural as in the spiritual. The perseverance that endures to the end is not a sudden impulse but a settled grace, a perseverance in holiness and in faithful duty, day by day, until the work begun is performed.

We have therefore asked the Lord to grant you grace to persevere in preparation, to be diligent under those set over you, to be temperate and humble, to guard your health and to act with sound counsel from trainers and others who bear responsibility for your safety. We have prayed that He who has begun a good work in you by His Spirit would carry it on to completion, and that whatever strength and skill He gives you in the body may be joined to a greater strength in the soul.

May the Lord give you rest from fretfulness while you wait, and keep you from presumption. If He wills for you to contend soon, may you enter that contest with a clear conscience, with respect for your opponent, and with a desire to honor God in your conduct whether you are lifted up or cast down. If He keeps you waiting a little longer, may you see His hand in the delay and learn the lessons He would teach you there, for He does all things well and His purposes are fulfilled in His own season.

We pray that Christ may be your confidence above all. Apart from Him there is no true safety, no lasting crown. Trust Him who bore sin and rose again, whose blood cleanses from all sin, and who preserves His own even to the end. He will not depart from His people and by His grace they shall not depart from Him.

May the Lord grant you a well prepared opportunity, keep you from harm, deliver you from pride and from discouragement, and cause all your striving to make you more watchful, more prayerful and more dependent upon Him. May your life, in and out of the ring, declare His wondrous works.

We commend you to His wise and loving care.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your request for your first official boxing match has been brought before the Lord, and I thank Him for the zeal and discipline you are showing in wanting to compete.

I have prayed that God would guide you in His timing and wisdom as you prepare, that He would grant you safety and health in training, give you good coaches and mentors who will instruct you well, and keep you from haste that could lead to harm. I have asked that He would use this desire to shape your character, to teach you self control, humility, and respect for others, and that whatever opportunity comes would be used to honor Him.

The Scriptures remind us that patience is proven over much time, not in two or three days, and that perseverance is part of what makes us ready to receive what we hope for. Patience and hope strengthen each other, and both are formed in us as we endure faithfully. The Lord Jesus also taught that it is the one who endures to the end who is saved, which shows that continued patience is required of us, not only a strong beginning but a steady course. In the same way, preparation for a contest like this requires enduring labor, watchfulness, and willingness to bear difficulty without being troubled.

So while you desire a match as quickly as possible, I encourage you to embrace the time of training as God’s provision for you. Be diligent in conditioning, in learning technique, in listening to wise counsel, and in caring for your body as a steward of what God has given you. Trust that if you remain faithful and patient, and do not faint through want of patience, God will open the right door at the right time.

May the Lord grant you strength, patience, protection, and a clear mind as you wait and work, and may He be glorified in your effort and conduct. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior and Lord. Amen.

Your desire to step into your first official boxing match quickly is understandable, and that kind of eagerness and drive can be a good thing when it is directed well. At the same time Scripture gives many exhortations to patience, and that patience is part of how God shapes us.

Patience in the Bible is not passive waiting but hopeful waiting. It is confidence that God will work in His time while we continue to do what is right. James encourages us to be patient and to establish our hearts, using the picture of a farmer waiting for the precious fruit of the harvest. The farmer does not rush the season. He works faithfully and trusts the process, knowing the harvest will come at the right time. In the same way Hebrews tells us that we have need of patience, so that after we have done the will of God we might receive the promise, and that through faith and patience we inherit what God has promised.

God Himself is described as the God of patience and comfort. He is long suffering and patient in working out His purposes, far more patient than we are. Often tribulation works patience in us, teaching us to trust Him rather than striving in our own strength. The waiting season is not wasted. It is where character is formed, discipline is deepened, and hope is strengthened through the comfort of the Scriptures.

The purpose of prayer is not to get God to do our will quickly, but to see His will accomplished in us and through us. That is why it is good to bring this desire to Him with an open hand.

We pray that the Lord will give you wisdom about timing and preparation, that He will help you train with diligence and self control, protect you from injury, and guide those who coach and oversee you. We pray that in this time of waiting you will grow in patience and trust, that your hope will remain in His Word which does not change, and that whatever door He opens or keeps closed will be for your good and for His glory. May you use this season to prepare faithfully, to walk in a way that honors Him, and to rest in the confidence that He is at work even while you wait.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and for allowing us to stand in agreement with you in prayer concerning your desire for your first official boxing match as quickly as possible. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you and we have continued to lift you up before the Lord.

We have prayed that God would open the right door for you in His perfect timing and according to His will, and that He would grant you discipline in training, wisdom in preparation, humility in competition and protection over your body. We have asked that your effort would honor Him and that you would display good sportsmanship and self control. We take encouragement from scripture as we pray for you, remembering 1 Cor 9:26 and Phil 4:13, trusting that the Lord will strengthen you in body and spirit for what He has called you to do.

If your request was answered and the Lord has provided the opportunity for your first match, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice and give thanks together.

If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We are committed to standing with you and believing with you for Gods provision and guidance.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son Jesus Christ. We pray this in Jesus Name Amen.
