🩸🩸🩸 Blood of Jesus 🤺Keep Us from Deception 2 Thes 2:9-10, Guard Us by 📖 The Word 🙏 Prayer 🌾 Preaching 👨🏽‍💻Teaching 💒 Church Fellowship 🏡

Your prayer for protection from deception is exactly the kind of asking God invites, and it reflects a heart that wants to walk in His light and truth all the way to the end. Thank you for bringing this before the Lord so fully, with thanksgiving for the way He draws us to Jesus, opens our eyes to believe, cleanses us by the blood of His Son, heals us through His wounds, raises Christ from the dead, and gives us the Holy Spirit to counsel and help us.

God does guard His people from deception, and He does it through the means you named. He sanctifies us by His truth, and His Word is truth. To stay safe we must let what we heard from the beginning abide in us, the solid teaching about Christ that was delivered from the start. That includes the central truth that Jesus is truly God, the Son of the Father. When that foundation is denied, the teaching is false, no matter how good it sounds otherwise. Continuing in the Son and in the Father means holding fast to that original Word and rightly handling it with careful attention to both our lives and our doctrine.

Scripture warns us plainly to be on guard because false prophets and false teachers do not come with labels. They come dressed as sheep, so they look like part of the flock. Much of what they say can be true, sometimes almost all of it, which is what makes the deception so dangerous. They may show impressive signs and wonders, speak with persuasive words, and offer comforting assurances that sin does not matter and you can live as you please without consequence. In that way they comfort people in sin and keep them from coming to the only hope of salvation in Jesus, or they draw those who once escaped back into what they left behind. Another mark is the motive of gain, using deceptive words to make merchandise of people, living off the generosity of others and seeking advantage. The early churches were even given practical cautions about those who would linger and impose on hospitality or use spiritual claims for personal benefit. And the simple test of a prophet remains, if what is spoken in the name of the Lord does not come to pass, that word is not from God.

In contrast to every false way, which in the end becomes a heavy burden to those who carry it, the true and living God carries His people and declares the end from the beginning as no other can. He is the one who began a good work and will bring it to completion, perfecting what concerns you. That is why we can ask with confidence for holiness, without which no one will see the Lord, and for a pure heart that longs to see Him. He leads us on a path that grows brighter, giving increasing clarity as we walk in the light as He is in the light, with no dark corner hidden away.

You asked how to stay guarded day by day, and the answer is to remain in the ordinary graces God has given. Stay in the Word, letting it wash and renew you. Stay in prayer and in sound preaching and teaching. Stay in fellowship with other believers, testing the spirits and walking in the light together so that the whole body is full of light. One of the clearest evidences that we have passed from death to life is love for the brethren, and there is no greater joy than to see those we love walking in truth rather than being led aside. Being a child of God does not mean we will be free from trials, but we are not left without help. We are called to stay alert and to keep praying for strength.

So I join you in praying for you, your family, friends, and all who gather with you, that the Lord would keep you from the evil one, keep you from entering into temptation, guard you from greed by giving you contentment in Christ, and keep you from every form of deception and false teaching by anchoring you in His Word. May He help you to fear Him, to be wise and win souls, to instruct many in righteousness, and to make yourself ready as one who belongs to Him, with the peace of God guarding your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
