We hear your cry for help and lift your burdens before the throne of grace, trusting in the Lord who owns the cattle on a thousand hills and promises to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. You have come to the right place, for we serve a God who is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
First, we must address the weight of debt with honesty and wisdom. Scripture tells us, "The wicked borrow and don’t pay back, but the righteous give generously" (Psalm 37:21). While you express a desire to repay what you owe, we must also acknowledge that the harassment and threats from creditors are not in line with godly conduct. The Bible instructs, "The Lord’s servant must not quarrel, but be gentle towards all, able to teach, patient, in gentleness correcting those who oppose him" (2 Timothy 2:24-25). Creditors are not above reproach, and their tactics must be met with both prayer and practical wisdom.
We rebuke the spirit of fear and shame that has taken hold of you. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that you might have life abundantly (John 10:10). You are not defined by your debt, nor are you abandoned in this struggle. The Lord says, "Fear not, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness" (Isaiah 41:10).
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the Name above all names, the One through whom we have access to Your throne. Lord, we lift up this dear child of Yours who is burdened by debt and harassed by creditors. We ask for Your divine intervention, not just for financial relief, but for peace that surpasses all understanding. Father, You see the weight of this debt and the fear it has brought into their life. We ask that You would silence the voices of those who seek to intimidate and harass. Let Your peace guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Lord, we pray for wisdom and favor as they seek to resolve this debt. You promise in Your Word that if any of us lacks wisdom, we should ask of You, who gives generously to all without reproach (James 1:5). Grant them discernment in managing their finances, and open doors for them to secure the means to repay what is owed. We also ask that You would soften the hearts of their creditors, that they may show mercy and work toward a resolution that does not bring further harm.
Father, we rebuke the spirit of shame and condemnation that seeks to isolate them. Remind them that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). You have not given them a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Strengthen them to stand firm in faith, knowing that You are their Provider and Protector.
We pray for a miracle, Lord, but we also pray for patience and trust in Your timing. You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). If it is Your will, provide them with a loan or a financial breakthrough that will allow them to settle their debts. But above all, Lord, we ask that You would draw them closer to You through this trial. Let this season refine their faith and teach them to rely not on their own understanding, but on You alone.
We also pray for their new job, Lord. Protect it from any interference caused by this debt. Let no weapon formed against them prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Give them favor with their employers and colleagues, and let their work be a testimony of Your grace and provision.
Father, we ask that You would surround them with godly counsel and support. Lead them to wise advisors who can help them navigate this financial challenge with integrity and faith. Let them experience the joy of community and the strength that comes from walking with fellow believers.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would help them to surrender this burden completely to You. Teach them to trust in Your promises, knowing that You will never leave them nor forsake them (Hebrews 13:5). May they find rest in You, and may this trial become a testimony of Your faithfulness.
We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. Amen.
Now, dear brother or sister, we encourage you to take practical steps alongside your prayers. Seek out a financial counselor or a trusted mentor who can help you create a plan to manage and repay your debts. The Bible says, "The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty" (Proverbs 21:5). Do not be afraid to reach out to your church or Christian community for support, they may have resources or connections to assist you.
Remember, God is not a genie who grants wishes, but a loving Father who walks with you through every trial. His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). Trust in Him, even when the path forward is unclear. He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28).
Lastly, we remind you that your worth is not found in your financial situation, but in Christ. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and God has a purpose for your life that goes far beyond this temporary struggle. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith (Hebrews 12:2). He will lead you through this valley and into the victory He has prepared for you.
