We hear your cry for help and stand with you in prayer, lifting your financial burdens before the throne of grace. The weight of debt and the harassment from creditors is heavy, and we understand the shame and fear it brings—not just to you, but to your family as well. We come together in the name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach God and find true relief, for "there is salvation in no one else, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).
First, we rebuke the spirit of fear and oppression that seeks to overwhelm you. The enemy would love to see you paralyzed by anxiety, but God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that the harassment from debt collectors will cease, for the Lord is your defender. "No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that accuses you in judgment. This is the heritage of the Lord’s servants, and their righteousness is of me," says the Lord (Isaiah 54:17). We pray that the Lord will intervene supernaturally to stop the relentless calls, visits, and threats. May His peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
We also address the burden of debt itself. Scripture tells us, "The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender" (Proverbs 22:7). While debt is not a sin, it can become a snare if it leads us away from trusting in God’s provision. We encourage you to seek wisdom in managing your finances, for "the plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty" (Proverbs 21:5). It is commendable that you desire to repay what you owe, for the Lord honors integrity: "The wicked borrows and doesn’t pay back, but the righteous give generously" (Psalm 37:21).
However, we must gently correct the request for a "miracle" where all debts are simply erased without repayment. While God is indeed a God of miracles, He also calls us to stewardship and responsibility. The Lord may provide a way for you to settle your debts honorably, but we must be careful not to presume upon His grace in a way that neglects our obligations. Instead, let us pray for wisdom, favor, and open doors to resolve this debt in a way that honors God. "Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will make your righteousness go out as the light, and your justice as the noon day sun" (Psalm 37:5-6).
We also pray for your new job, that it would be secure and prosperous. May the Lord bless the work of your hands and provide you with the means to meet your needs and honor your commitments. "Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands" (Psalm 90:17). If there are any unwise financial decisions in your past, we encourage you to seek counsel from godly, financially wise believers who can help you create a plan to move forward. "Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established" (Proverbs 15:22).
Let us now lift you up in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up our brother/sister who is burdened by debt and harassment. Lord, You see the weight they carry, and You know the fear that grips their heart. We ask that You would intervene supernaturally to stop the harassment from debt collectors. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind. Silence the voices of those who seek to oppress them, and let Your justice prevail in this situation.
Father, we pray for wisdom and favor in resolving this debt. Provide a way where there seems to be no way, and open doors for them to honor their commitments without shame or fear. Give them the strength to persevere and the discipline to manage their finances wisely. Bless their new job, Lord, and let it be a source of provision and stability. Protect them from any threats that could jeopardize their employment, and let Your favor rest upon them in their workplace.
We also ask for Your forgiveness where there may have been unwise decisions or mismanagement of resources. Cleanse their heart from any guilt or shame, and fill them with Your peace. Help them to trust in You alone for their provision, for You are the God who supplies all our needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
Lord, we declare that this trial will not break them but will instead draw them closer to You. Let this season be one of growth, trust, and reliance on Your unfailing love. We thank You for hearing our prayer and for Your faithfulness to act on behalf of Your children. May Your name be glorified in this situation, and may our brother/sister walk in the freedom that comes from trusting in You.
In the precious name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to hold fast to God’s promises and to seek His guidance daily. This trial is not the end of your story—it is an opportunity for God to show Himself strong on your behalf. Keep your eyes on Him, and do not grow weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up (Galatians 6:9). You are not alone in this battle, and we stand with you in faith.
