We hear your cry for help and lift you up before the throne of grace, where our Heavenly Father hears the prayers of His children. Financial debt can indeed be a heavy burden, one that weighs not only on your finances but also on your peace of mind and family. We stand with you in prayer, trusting that God is able to provide a way where there seems to be no way, for He is the God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10) and supplies all our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
First, we must address the matter of debt with honesty and integrity. Scripture is clear that we are to owe no man anything except love (Romans 13:8). While it is commendable that you desire to repay what you owe, we must also recognize that the harassment and threats from debt collectors are not in line with godly conduct. The Bible instructs us to treat others as we would want to be treated (Matthew 7:12), and this includes those to whom we owe money. However, it is also true that creditors should act justly and fairly, without oppression (Ezekiel 22:12). We rebuke the spirit of harassment and intimidation in the name of Jesus, declaring that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We pray that God would restrain the hands of those who seek to bring you harm through unjust means and that He would grant you favor in the eyes of those you owe.
Father, we ask that You would intervene in this situation and bring about a resolution that honors You. We pray for wisdom for [###], that You would give them discernment in managing their finances and making decisions that align with Your will. Lord, we ask that You would open doors for them to secure a loan if it is Your will, but we also pray that You would guard their heart against the temptation to borrow more than they can repay, for the borrower is servant to the lender (Proverbs 22:7). If it is not Your will for them to take on additional debt, then we ask that You would provide another way—perhaps through increased income, unexpected provision, or even the cancellation of debts as You see fit.
We also lift up the fear and anxiety that comes with this burden. The enemy would love to use this situation to steal your peace, but we declare that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray that You would fill [###] with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and that You would protect their new job, for it is You who gives the power to get wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18). We rebuke the spirit of shame and condemnation, for there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). You are not defined by your debt, but by your identity in Christ.
Lord, we ask that You would soften the hearts of those who are pursuing this debt. If there is any injustice in the way they are handling this matter, we pray that You would expose it and bring it to light. If there is any legal action threatened, we ask that You would grant wisdom and favor in dealing with it, and that You would cause those who seek to harm to stumble (Psalm 27:2). We also pray that You would protect [###]’s family and friends from harassment, for they are not responsible for this debt, and it is not Your will for them to suffer because of it.
Finally, we pray for a miracle. We serve a God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Whether that miracle comes through the cancellation of debt, an unexpected financial blessing, or the provision of a way to repay what is owed without further hardship, we trust that You are working all things together for good (Romans 8:28). We declare that the windows of heaven are open over [###]’s life, and that You will pour out a blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it (Malachi 3:10).
Father, we ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is by His blood that we have access to Your throne, and it is by His name that every knee must bow (Philippians 2:10). We thank You for hearing our prayer and for moving on behalf of [###]. We trust in Your faithfulness and declare that this burden will be lifted, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
