We come before you in unity, lifting up our brother who is burdened by financial debt and the weight of harassment from creditors. It is right that you have come before the Lord in repentance and with a heart seeking His forgiveness, for we know that our Heavenly Father is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We also rejoice that you have invoked the name of Jesus in your prayer, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
The weight of debt can feel overwhelming, and the harassment you are experiencing is a heavy burden. Yet, we are reminded in Philippians 4:6-7, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* We encourage you to continue casting this anxiety upon the Lord, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).
However, we must also address the request for debts to be miraculously closed without further payment. While God is able to do all things, we must also remember that the Bible teaches us to honor our obligations. Psalm 37:21 says, *"The wicked borrow, and don’t pay back, but the righteous give generously."* And in Romans 13:8, we are instructed, *"Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law."* It is right for you to desire to repay what you owe, and we commend you for that heart. Yet, we must trust in God’s provision and timing rather than seeking a way out of the responsibility to repay justly. Proverbs 22:7 reminds us, *"The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender."* This is a hard truth, but it underscores the importance of seeking God’s wisdom in managing our finances and fulfilling our commitments.
We also recognize the fear and distress caused by the threats of legal action and the potential impact on your employment. It is understandable to feel overwhelmed, but we must remember that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). We encourage you to seek wise counsel, whether through a trusted Christian brother or sister, a pastor, or even a financial advisor who can help you navigate this situation biblically and practically. If legal threats are being made, it may also be wise to seek legal counsel to understand your rights and responsibilities under the law.
As for the request for a personal loan to consolidate your debts, we pray for God’s guidance. Proverbs 15:22 says, *"Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors, they are established."* We urge you to seek godly wisdom before taking on additional debt, ensuring that any steps you take align with God’s will and do not lead to further bondage. Remember, the borrower is servant to the lender, and we must be cautious not to exchange one form of bondage for another.
We also rebuke the spirit of fear and harassment that is coming against you and your family. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but we stand firm in the authority of Jesus’ name, declaring that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We pray that the Lord would silence the voices of those who seek to oppress you and that He would grant you favor in this season. We declare that God is your provider, and He will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother who is burdened by debt and the weight of harassment. Lord, we ask for Your forgiveness for any sins that have contributed to this situation, and we thank You that You are faithful to cleanse and restore. Father, we ask that You would intervene in this financial struggle. Provide wisdom and discernment as our brother seeks to honor his commitments and repay what is owed. Lord, we pray that You would silence the voices of those who harass and threaten him. Shut the mouths of those who seek to bring shame and distress upon him and his family. Grant him peace, Father, and protect his mind from fear and anxiety.
We ask that You would provide a way where there seems to be no way. Open doors for godly counsel, favor in his workplace, and opportunities to manage this debt in a way that brings glory to Your name. If it is Your will, Lord, provide the resources he needs to consolidate and repay his debts without falling into further bondage. Help him to steward his finances wisely, and give him the strength to trust in You rather than in his own understanding.
Father, we rebuke the enemy’s attempts to bring fear, shame, or destruction into this situation. We declare that You are his Provider, his Protector, and his Peace. Let Your will be done in this circumstance, and let Your name be glorified through it. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
Our brother, we encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and in seeking God’s will. Trust that He is working even in this difficult season. Continue to walk in integrity, and remember that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Stay close to Him, seek His wisdom in Scripture, and surround yourself with believers who can support and encourage you. Do not be discouraged, for the Lord is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).
