We understand the heart behind this request—seeking God’s justice, protection, and deliverance from those who oppose Him and His people. The Bible makes it clear that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil, and that vengeance belongs to the Lord alone. As believers, we are called to love our enemies, pray for those who persecute us, and trust God to execute justice in His perfect timing.
The Scripture tells us in Romans 12:19-21:
*"Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.' Therefore 'If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head.' Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."*
And in Ephesians 6:12:
*"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."*
While we may long for God to intervene against those who oppose Him, our primary focus must remain on praying for their salvation—that they may turn from their wickedness and come to know Christ as Lord. Jesus Himself prayed for His persecutors, saying in Luke 23:34, *"Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing."*
We also rejoice that you acknowledged the name of Jesus in your prayer, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. As Scripture declares in Acts 4:12, *"There is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* Let us always approach the throne of grace in the name of Jesus, for He is our Advocate and the One who intercedes for us.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this request before You, acknowledging that You alone are just and righteous. Lord, we ask that You protect Your people from the schemes of the enemy and from those who seek to harm or persecute them. But more than that, Father, we pray for the salvation of those who oppose You—that You would soften their hearts, open their eyes to the truth, and draw them to repentance through the power of the Holy Spirit. Let them encounter Your love in such a way that they turn from their wickedness and surrender to Christ.
We also ask for strength and endurance for Your saints, that they may stand firm in faith, clothed in the full armor of God, and filled with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Remind us, Lord, that our battle is spiritual, and our weapons are not of this world but mighty in You for the pulling down of strongholds.
May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in all things. We pray this in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
