Beloved of All
Your prayer has been received with care, and the deep longing and sorrow behind it are heard. The loss you have walked through leaves a mark, and it is understandable that as you now carry this precious life, with the added burdens of diabetes and fibroids and the unknowns that every mother feels, your heart would cry out for protection and for a safe delivery.
We bring your request to God who is revealed as the Most High God, possessor of heaven and earth. All that is in heaven and earth belongs to Him, including your body and the life of your child. He is not distant or unaware, and it is to Him that we look for help and mercy.
We come with confidence because we have a great High Priest, Jesus the Son of God, who has passed into heaven itself. Under the old covenant the high priest entered an earthly room once a year, alone, to offer many sacrifices first for his own sins and then for the people. But Jesus is different. He is holy, without fault, undefiled, separate from sinners and exalted above the heavens. He did not need to offer sacrifices for Himself, but offered Himself once for all. He did not enter a copy made by human hands, but entered heaven itself and is seated at the right hand of the Majesty on high, where He lives forever to intercede for us. Because of Him we can come boldly to the throne of grace to find mercy and help in time of need.
On that basis we pray with you and for you. We ask the Lord to keep His hand of protection over you and your baby in these coming weeks, to guard against complications from diabetes, from fibroids, and from any unseen cause. We ask Him to grant a healthy growth for your child and, according to His will, a long and healthy life. We ask Him to give wisdom and skill and clarity to every doctor and nurse and staff member who will care for you, and to grant a smooth and safe C section with a peaceful recovery for you.
We also pray that you will know His presence and peace as you wait. Scripture reminds us that physical health and long life, while we may rightly pray for them and thank God for them, are not in themselves the measure of faith or of God's love. Some remain strong to old age like Moses and Caleb, others grow weak, and God's love and mercy toward those who fear Him remains as high as the heavens are above the earth. He has not dealt with us according to our iniquities, and His mercy is great. Whatever the outcome, His faithfulness remains sure, and He is able to save and to keep to the uttermost those who come to God through Jesus.
So we thank God with you for this life He has entrusted to you, and we continue to ask Him for grace to trust Him day by day, to thank Him in all circumstances, and to rest in the intercession of our great High Priest who knows your name and your need.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this mother and her child to You. You are the Most High God who sees and sustains all things. Cover them with Your protection, keep the baby safe, prevent complications, guide the hands and minds of the medical team, and bring mother and child through delivery safely. Let Your mercy and faithfulness be their comfort and strength, and let them know the peace that comes from trusting the One who ever lives to pray for them. Amen.
