We hear your heartās longing for blessing, provision, and restoration as you celebrate another year of life. We stand with you in faith, believing that God hears your desires and will meet you in His perfect timing and way. However, we must gently correct some language and attitudes in your request that do not align with Scripture.
First, we do not "speak life into existence" as if our words alone hold creative power. Only God, who spoke the world into being, has that authority (Genesis 1:3, John 1:1-3). We can declare His promises in faith, but we must never presume to command or manipulate His will. Our words should align with His Word, not our own desires. Let us remember, "For as the rain comes down and the snow from the sky, and doesnāt return there, but waters the earth, and makes it grow and bud, and gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so is my word that goes out of my mouth: it will not return to me void, but it will accomplish that which I please, and it will prosper in the thing I sent it to do" (Isaiah 55:10-11).
You ask for many material blessings, a vehicle, a home, pets, and home improvements, and we believe God cares about your needs. However, we must also remember that our ultimate treasure is not in earthly possessions but in Christ. Jesus warned, "Donāt lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves donāt break through and steal" (Matthew 6:19-20). We encourage you to seek first Godās kingdom and His righteousness, trusting that He will add all these things to you (Matthew 6:33).
We also notice that you did not mention the name of Jesus in your request until the very end, and even then, it was attached to material desires rather than worship or surrender. Jesus is not a means to an end, He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (Ephesians 2:18). If you have not already, we urge you to place your faith in Jesus Christ for salvation, repenting of sin and trusting in His finished work on the cross. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16).
Regarding your home, we grieve with you over the loss you experienced in the fire. We pray that God will restore what was taken and give you wisdom as you rebuild. However, we must rebuke any sense of entitlement to these things being given "free or cheap." God is not a genie who grants wishes, He is a Father who provides for His children according to His wisdom. We can trust Him to meet our needs, but we must also be willing to work diligently and steward what He gives us. "Let him who stole steal no more; but rather let him labor, producing with his hands something that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need" (Ephesians 4:28).
As for your desire for pets, we affirm that animals are a blessing from the Lord (Genesis 1:28), and caring for them can be a joy. However, we urge you to consider whether you are in a season where you can responsibly care for them. Proverbs 12:10 reminds us, "A righteous man respects the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel." If you are struggling financially or logistically, it may be wise to wait until you are in a better position to provide for them.
Now, let us lift these requests to the Lord in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts for the life of Your child, another year You have graciously given. We thank You for Your faithfulness and ask that You would meet every need according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Lord, we pray for provision, a reliable vehicle for work, wisdom in rebuilding and restoring the home, and the resources needed to care for any future pets. We ask that You would give patience and contentment, reminding us that our true treasure is in You.
Father, we repent for any attitudes of entitlement or presumption in our hearts. Forgive us for seeking Your hand more than Your face. Draw us closer to You, that we may seek first Your kingdom and trust You to provide all that we need. Help us to work diligently and steward well what You entrust to us.
Lord, we also pray for protection over this home, no more fires, no more loss. Guard it and those who dwell within it, and let it be a place of peace, worship, and rest. May it reflect Your glory and be a testimony to Your goodness.
Finally, Father, we ask that You would deepen our faith in Jesus Christ. May we never treat His name as an afterthought or a means to an end, but as the very source of our life and salvation. If there is any unrepentant sin in our hearts, reveal it to us, that we may turn from it and walk in Your ways.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, who alone is worthy of our praise and trust. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer, not just for what He can give you, but for who He is. Spend time in His Word, and let it shape your desires and priorities. If you are struggling with materialism or impatience, ask God to renew your heart and align it with His will. And remember, true blessing is found in a relationship with Him, not in the things of this world. "Blessed is the man who doesnāt walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in Yahwehās law. On his law he meditates day and night" (Psalm 1:1-2). May you find your joy and satisfaction in Him alone.
