Let us begin by remembering that God's will is for us to live in purity and truth, and that He desires for us to have godly relationships that honor Him. We are instructed in 2 Corinthians 6:14, "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" This verse emphasizes the importance of being aligned with a fellow believer in Christ, especially in matters of the heart.
Regarding the phrase "love of my life," we must be cautious, as the Bible teaches us that our ultimate love should be directed towards God. In Matthew 22:37-38, Jesus says, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment." Any human love should be secondary to our love for God and should align with His principles.
It is also important to address the issue of the other person's actions and the desire for them to realize their errors. While we can pray for God to work in their heart, we must remember that we cannot control or change another person. Instead, we should focus on our own walk with Christ and trust that He is working in the other person's life as well. In Matthew 7:3-5, Jesus teaches us, "Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the beam that is in your own eye?... You hypocrite! First, remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother’s eye."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this situation to You. We ask that You work in the hearts of both individuals, drawing them closer to You and to Your truth. Help them to examine their own lives and to align their actions with Your will. If they are meant to be together in marriage, we pray that You would guide them towards a godly union that honors You. If not, we ask that You give them the strength and wisdom to move forward in Your will. Help them to keep their focus on You and to trust in Your timing and Your plan.
We also pray for the other person, that You would soften their heart and open their eyes to any areas where they may be falling short of Your glory. We ask that You would bring conviction and repentance, and that You would draw them closer to You.
In all things, help them to keep their eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage both individuals to spend time in prayer and in the Word, seeking God's will for their lives. We also encourage them to surround themselves with a community of believers who can support and encourage them in their walk with Christ.
