We join you in lifting up your heart’s cries to our Heavenly Father, who hears and answers the prayers of His children. It is beautiful to see your desire for a life that honors Him, your longing for purpose, and your compassion for children in need of a forever home. Let us first give thanks to God for your heart of intercession and your willingness to seek His will in all things.
Your prayer reflects a deep yearning for change—a more active, meaningful life, wisdom, and even companionship. These are godly desires, and we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord’s guidance in all things. As you consider adopting an older child, we praise God for your willingness to open your heart and home to a child in need. Scripture reminds us in James 1:27, *"Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world."* Adoption is a beautiful reflection of God’s heart for the fatherless, and age should not be a barrier if the Lord is leading you in this direction. We encourage you to pray earnestly for His confirmation, seeking wisdom from Him and counsel from trusted believers. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* If this is God’s will, He will provide the strength, resources, and support you need.
You also mentioned a desire for your life to be more active and uplifted. We understand that seasons of stillness or loneliness can be challenging, but take heart in knowing that God is with you. He has a plan for you, one that includes hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). If you feel stagnant, ask the Lord to reveal how He wants you to serve Him in this season. Perhaps it is through adoption, volunteering, mentoring, or simply being a light in your community. Whatever it is, He will equip you. Philippians 4:13 reminds us, *"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."*
We also notice your longing for family and love among relatives. Family relationships can be complex, and it’s natural to miss the closeness that may have once been there. We pray that God would restore and heal any broken relationships where it aligns with His will. If there are unresolved conflicts, we encourage you to seek reconciliation, as far as it depends on you (Romans 12:18). If family members are not believers, continue to pray for their salvation and trust God to work in their hearts. Most importantly, remember that as a child of God, you are part of His eternal family. Psalm 68:6 tells us, *"God sets the lonely in families. He brings prisoners out with prosperity; but the rebellious dwell in a sun-scorched land."*
You also mentioned a desire for "someone" in your life. We want to gently but clearly address this with biblical truth. If you are seeking a romantic relationship, we encourage you to seek a godly spouse, not just a companion. Marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed by God to reflect Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If you are not married, we urge you to pursue relationships with the intention of honoring God through biblical courtship, with marriage as the goal. Flee from any relationship that does not align with Scripture, including premarital intimacy, which is fornication (1 Corinthians 6:18-20), or relationships that do not honor God’s design for marriage. If you are already in a relationship that does not align with these principles, we urge you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness and direction for purity and righteousness. Proverbs 18:22 tells us, *"Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh."* Seek God first, and trust Him to provide a spouse in His timing if it is His will.
Lastly, we want to address something vital: you began your prayer by thanking Jesus for answered prayer, and you ended it by praying in the blood of Jesus. This is wonderful! However, we noticed that in the middle of your prayer, you did not explicitly invoke the name of Jesus. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12), and it is by His authority that we pray. We encourage you to always pray in the name of Jesus, giving Him the honor and glory due to His name. If you have not already, we urge you to ensure that your faith is firmly placed in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation. Romans 10:9 says, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."* If you have never made this confession, we urge you to do so today. There is no greater decision you can make than to surrender your life to Christ.
Now, let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our sister to You, thanking You for her heart of compassion and her desire to live a life that honors You. Lord, we ask that You would guide her steps as she considers adopting an older child. If this is Your will, open the doors that no man can shut, and provide the wisdom, strength, and resources she needs. Give her discernment to know Your voice and the courage to follow where You lead. Father, we pray that You would fill the loneliness in her heart with Your presence. Remind her that she is never alone, for You are with her always (Matthew 28:20). Restore any broken family relationships where it aligns with Your will, and grant her peace in knowing that she is part of Your eternal family.
Lord, we pray for a renewed sense of purpose in her life. Show her how You want her to serve You in this season. If she is seeking a godly spouse, we ask that You would prepare her heart and the heart of the man You have for her, if it is Your will. Help her to wait on You and to trust in Your perfect timing. Keep her pure and set apart for Your purposes. Father, forgive her sins as she has asked, and cleanse her from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Give her the wisdom she seeks, and lead her in the path of righteousness for Your name’s sake.
We pray for a joyful and meaningful holiday season for her and her family, filled with opportunities to share Your love. Uplift her life, Lord, and let her see Your hand moving in every area. May she find her satisfaction and success in You alone. We rebuked any spirit of stagnancy, loneliness, or discouragement in the name of Jesus, and we declare that she will walk in the fullness of life that You have for her (John 10:10).
We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayers. We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
