Betrayal, family, cousins, fake friends

Anonymous

Beloved of All
It makes complete sense that you are sitting there feeling the heavy sting of regret right now. When you take a raw piece of your soul—your faith, your struggles, and your creative lyrics—and share it with people who are supposed to protect you, only for them to trample it and use it to mock you, it feels like a physical punch to the chest. It makes you want to close up, throw away your music goals, and curse yourself for ever opening up.

We hear the deep pain in your words, and our hearts ache with you. Betrayal from family and those you trusted cuts to the bone, especially when they twist your vulnerabilities into weapons against you. The enemy would love nothing more than for you to abandon the gifts God has placed in you, your creativity, your voice, your passion for music, because of the cruelty of others. But we must stand firm in the truth: what man means for evil, God intends for good (Genesis 50:20).

You are not foolish for trusting; you were made to love and create in a world that often despises authenticity. But Scripture warns us: "Do not be deceived: ‘Evil companions corrupt good morals’" (1 Corinthians 15:33). The people who mocked your heart’s work were never safe to hold it. Their betrayal reveals their own brokenness, not your worth. Jesus Himself was betrayed by those closest to Him (Psalm 41:9), yet He did not let their sin define His purpose.

We rebuke the spirit of shame trying to silence you. Your lyrics, your struggles, your faith, they are sacred because they are yours, given by God. "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them" (Ephesians 2:10). The enemy wants you to bury your gifts, but the Lord is calling you to steward them with wisdom, not fear.

Let us pray for you:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister, lifting up their wounded heart. Lord, You see the betrayal, the mockery, the lies spoken over their life. We ask that You would bind up their broken places with Your healing balm (Psalm 147:3). Restore their joy in creating, their confidence in sharing, and their trust in Your protection. Expose the hearts of those who hurt them, let truth prevail, and let repentance come where it is needed. Surround them with godly community who will sharpen them, not shame them (Proverbs 27:17). Father, we declare that their gifts are not cursed but consecrated to You. May they rise above the noise of their critics and walk in the purpose You’ve ordained. In the mighty name of Jesus, we break every assignment of the enemy to steal their voice or their vision. Amen."

You are not alone in this. The same God who turned David’s lament into psalms of praise can turn your pain into a testimony. But you must guard your heart now (Proverbs 4:23). Not everyone deserves access to your dreams. Seek counsel from believers who honor God and will speak life into your gifts, not death. And remember: "If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31). The One who called you is faithful, He will complete the work He began in you (Philippians 1:6). Do not let the enemy’s lies steal one more day of your destiny.

We can only imagine how exposed and foolish you must feel right now, having handed something so tender and real to people you believed were safe. Music and faith come from deep places, when you braid them together and share that with family or close friends, you're counting on them to handle it with care. To have them turn it into a weapon leaves a wound that's hard to describe. The regret isn't just about oversharing; it's the grief of discovering that people you trusted weren't who you thought they were.

Sometimes we don't realize until after a betrayal how much we were hoping for a certain response, to be seen, understood, maybe even championed. When the opposite happens, the instinct to lock everything down, abandon the creative goals, and beat yourself up for being foolish is completely normal. That reaction is trying to protect you from more damage. But please don't let their cruelty convince you that what you offered was worthless or that your music and your faith are somehow tainted now. Other people's meanness doesn't define what you created or the courage it took to share it.

Take your time licking these wounds, God can handle your anger, your disappointment, and your impulse to hide. And when you start to wonder whether you'll ever feel safe opening up again, consider that not everyone who sees your work will respond this way. Some people will receive it as the gift it is. Right now you probably just need breathing room, and that's all right.

Lord, we lift up this one who is reeling from betrayal. You know how deep the hurt goes, how personal it feels to be mocked for sharing faith and creativity. Guard those tender places from bitterness or shame, and give time and space for healing. Surround them in time with friends who will prove trustworthy, who will see what You've placed in them and treat it with honor. Protect the music and the vision You've given; don't let this cruelty silence it. In Jesus' name.

The treachery laid upon you is indeed a bitter cup, yet behold how the Master Himself drained it to the dregs. The mockery you endure is no strange thing, was not the Lord of Glory betrayed by a familiar friend? In this dark hour, prophecy finds its echo in your sorrow, and your footsteps fall where His have trod. The betrayal of Christ was ordained that sin might reach its full horror, that atonement might be complete, and that our great High Priest might be touched with the feeling of our infirmities. You are not abandoned to a grief He does not know; He has gone before you in the path of treachery's sting. As Joseph was cast off by his own blood to fulfill a greater purpose, so your present wounds are not beyond the wise governance of Him who outwits the Evil One and brings good from intended harm.

Consider that faith's foes often sit at our own table. Was it not Ishmael, born of the same house as Isaac, who mocked the child of promise? The Scriptures forewarn us that those of our own household may scoff at our trust in the Lord. They revile the very notion of divine deliverance, yet it is precisely that deliverance which proves our faith genuine. When they jeer, "He trusted God, let Him deliver him," they unknowingly reenact the taunts hurled at the crucified King. Bear it, then, as a fellowship with His sufferings, knowing that for His sake we can endure far more than the scorn of men. The injury is deep, but the honor of sharing in Christ's reproach is deeper still.

Do not surrender your holy endeavor to the dust of despair. The impulse to create for God's glory is no mere natural talent; it may well be the echo of an effectual call. Remember that the Almighty, in His sovereign grace, often plucks His instruments from the most unlikely soil. He called Abram from an idolatrous family, severing him from kin and country to make him a fountain of blessing. Your very desire to recount His truth through song, your struggle to press through the crowd to see Him as Zaccheus did, indicates that a heavenly finger has touched your soul. The call of God is not according to man's wisdom; it descends upon the despised and the outcast, lifting their hearts to high and eternal things. Has this calling from on high not lifted your spirit beyond the petty judgment of those who cannot discern the voice of the Shepherd?

The Shepherd calls His own sheep by name with a personal, unmistakable summons. He does not address them as strangers with formal reserve, but with the intimacy of a Father who knows His child. What if earthly relatives refuse to hear that melody? The true family likeness among God's children is not a shared surname or a natural lineage, but the leading of His Spirit and a quickened heart that cries, "Abba, Father." You may be uprooted from the affection of your natural clan, like Abram leaving Ur, yet you journey toward a city whose builder and maker is God. Do not halt in that pilgrimage because some who camped near you have turned back to mock the way. Press on; for your high calling is from heaven and to heaven, and those who are truly called never stop until they arrive in the promised land.
